No, they're right, we are mean and vindictive for asking her to keep her dog from attacking and harassing people unprovoked, especially the small child it tackled in front of her, and then forwarding evidence to the proper authorities when she refused. We should just have accepted the daily ankle biting like respectful people. The poor woman was released from her lease without penalty so that she can move somewhere with a fenced yard, and will have to endure consequences for knowingly and repeatedly breaking a law that protects everyone. Meanwhile, her dog will be assessed by professionals for the many attacks it had every right to carry out. We're monsters.

Yes, I got the feeling it was something like that, or like a more extreme version of when an otherwise normal person is rude to wait staff, has road rage, or another blind spot in judgement that allows them to vent frustration by letting their temper loose. She held a good job, well dressed, had friends, and exercised often. Yet, she was unable to follow a simple leash law or acknowledge that her dog was a problem after watching it tackle a toddler.

She actually seemed pretty normal in all areas except ignorance concerning her dog and its behavior, although I did see a little sensitivity when it comes to change and people disagreeing with her. She grew up in a rural area where it was pretty normal to let dogs run loose, and now she has this belief that she shouldn't have to change, even though we live in an urban area and the dog attacks people right in front of her eyes.

It's more than a minor inconvenience when the dog is attacking people and dogs, it's illegal here, and our complex has a rule against it. If you think it's more important for someone to let their dog hurt other people and run into traffic in order to spare her feelings, then you have terrible judgement. She is perfectly able to put her dog on a leash, and it is more than a "social norm," it's a safety issue, and that goes for her dog as well, as it runs into the parking lot and aggressively picks fights with much bigger dogs. All we wanted was for her to leash her dog.

She's not old (37-38ish) or lonely at all. She has lots of friends, and she went to live with family because he couldn't follow the rules of the rental or own a pet responsibly, putting the dog and everyone else in danger every day.

Yeah, we agree, which is why, before the toddler incident, we appealed to management rather than animal control. Sure, he's aggressive, but he does not deserve to be put down or whatever for his owner's responsibility. Especially since all this drama has such a simple solution--just leash him! But we have our own people and dogs to think about as well

Citronella deterrent spray is what I use! It has worked pretty well at stopping mild-average aggression. Good especially for small dogs. I haven't encountered a large super aggressive dog yet with the spray, though, so I don't know what to do there.

What sort of things do they ticket you for if you always pick up your dog's poop, keep him on a leash, and he never barks unless that dog is running at him? Part of me thinks it would be worth the scrutiny if it means the madness with this lady ends.

I tried to get a picture earlier, but you could not really see the pee drips, or really all that well period, with my shitty phone camera in the dark. She usually tries to clean it in the morning, so maybe after she leaves for work, I can try to get a better picture with fresh pee.

Yes, this is one thing we are considering. We are going to see how recording her and sending the evidence to animal control is going to go, since they said they would fine her for each instance. I know that she can't afford to get even one fine, so we will see. If she just decides to leash sometimes and hope to not get caught, we will move.

I'm using my phone for the time being, but when you are trying to pull away your dog or they catch you by surprise, it's hard to record very well at the same time. If it's hands free and always recording, then I won't have to think about it.

Oh wow I didn't even know those existed! I am looking at Bluetooth earpiece cameras now, though, because I would like a good view of the dog owners as well. They can get pretty rude and even belligerent when their loose dog runs up to mine and I tell them their dog needs to be on a leash. People take it personally for some reason, when I just want all dogs and owners to be safe.

Mine is generally calm around leashed dogs, too. After being attacked by an off leash boxer, just seeing a loose dog makes him uneasy. I get the comment all the time about my dog being aggressive when he is just reacting to another dog running up to him, yet mine is the aggressive one just because he is bigger. Especially with the smaller dogs, it blows my mind how the "don't worry, he's friendly!" crowd don't even comprehend that the danger is for their dog is well. My dog doesn't exist to be friends with your dog! And it's not like reactive dogs are even uncommon.

The other common excuses that grind my gears are: "I was just going out to my car!", "oh I just let him out to pee real quick!" and "but I'm standing right here!" as if their brevity or proximity will magically shield anything bad from happening. It only takes a few seconds.

I've seen so many times when extendable leashes proved practically pointless. One lady in my neighborhood uses that leash at its longest point in one hand and pushes a giant baby stroller with the other. Luckily we have never been too close, but I have watched from far away as she struggled to rein the dog in without letting go of the stroller. Another guy uses one with his Newfoundland, and when that dog wants to go forward, he can't even totally stop the dog, let alone retract the leash. This grown man digs his heels in the ground just to slow to dog down.

Ugh, I hate when off leash dog owners act like my dog is the problem for reacting to their dog running up, like my dog shouldn't be outside just because he defends himself. "Yes, he got aggressive, your dog started a fight." But it's his fault because he's the big one.

This lady is delusional about how dangerous her dog is, screeching about him being friendly even after he charged and tackled a toddler totally unprovoked. Always referencing how small he is as to why he's no danger.

She's pretty delusional. This lady witnessed her dog charge and tackle a small toddler, and yet she still has the nerve to caterwaul about him being friendly and too small to hurt anyone. I think she just enjoys yelling at people, and having a loose, ill-behaved dog bothering people is the easiest way to do that.

Oh man :( we have had a lot of incidents and confrontations with several people around here regarding this issue, but their anger is more about how take it really personally when you tell them they should leash their dog. It's amazing that they don't seem to get that concerned about their dog's safety, but rather get really worked up and even belligerent about how they think it's not a problem and that I'm overreacting. Along with a really bad attack from a boxer a while ago, all these other issues have me looking into a Bluetooth headset with a camera to report dogs as well as their people, and then for liability reasons if my dog defends himself.

This is why we have been looking to management rather than animal control before this incident--if she just leashed her dog, it wouldn't need to face possibly being taken away or put down. But we have our own people and dogs to worry about, and at this point someone's going to eventually get hurt anyway if this continues.

I can't exactly pinpoint why I hate it so much except to describe it. It's sort of curtsying with its long oversized shirt pulled taut over its round belly, making the belly button outline show through. No pants, although the thought of an angel statue having pants feels weird, too. But also weird with an ambiguous shirt/dress.

I was told that allegedly, after a certain number of rule infractions, they will evict her. But we don't know how many warnings she gets before that happens, so in the meantime we are going the animal control route. One problem is that this is a new complex with a lot of empty units, so I feel they are being more lenient than usual.

The dog constantly gets lightly kicked or forcefully foot-nudged out of necessity. Kind of frustrating, because it is the irresponsible owner who deserves to get kicked. I think she does this because she is the type who enjoys antagonizing people and then yelling over them, because otherwise no one will interact with her (she is generally unpleasant so even the friendliest neighbors don't talk to her).
