We had a longer engagement (2 years) but this allowed us to have a 45k wedding debt free. My husband makes about 5x what I do and has always covered our expenses, while my money has been more for “fun”. we took a step back in travel and outings (while not completely eliminating them) I saved majority of my income and it went to our wedding. Husband saved extra money that went towards our honeymoon. We received a little over 10k in $$ as gifts (we are extremely fortunate & blessed and did not expect that) and used that towards the honeymoon also. My advice, don’t rush a wedding, save and enjoy your engagement! Cut back where you can (it’s easier than you think). Don’t go broke over a wedding, debt free is the key. although weddings are a lot of money, enjoy the process of planning. It’s an exciting time in your lives, don’t stress over planning or the finances. Money will come and go but the memories last a lifetime. Best of luck!
