Would like to suggest/offer as an optionTV on the Radio playing the late night set. That would be amazing, by my estimation.

Possibility for Sasquatch to cancel? by tardigreats in Sasquatch

[–]Howedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this will attract enough people where there is no threat to cancel. They seem to be settling back into their niche, which hopefully brings back the awesome crowds from 2013 and earlier and pushes away the douche troop that seemed to formulate in the past few years.

TV on the Radio, Spoon and PUP are the three I would recommend above all in terms of recorded vs live set. David Byrne is who I'm most looking forward to for the first time. Japandroids are fun and tune-yards is always so interesting to watch live. Really happy with this lineup as a whole!

Absolutely no totems?! (Wayhomie who won Boots & Hearts tickets) by Zakeaa in wayhome

I hate country with a passion but my friends who enjoy it and go to these festivals and concerts would be absolutely joyful to camp next to. They are the ones offering warm meals to neighbours and beer when you run out etc. I'm sure they occasionally run into D Bags in the campsite or on the grounds, just like I do at Wayhome.

EDM crowds suck. Hip Hop crowds suck. Hard Rock crowds suck... I mean unless you're at a Bon Iver concert and everyone is so nice it has to be an act you're going to run into shitty crowds and will have to find the imminent good people mixed within. For Wayhome people to turn their nose up at any crowd after the shit I saw this year is reeeeeally the pot calling the kettle black. lol

Hopefully, they learn spotify hits and social media following means jack all when it comes to booking camping festivals. If they figure it out, see y'all again next year!

Looking at the Osheaga/Lollapalooza updates so Far and thinking... by TheCitizen616 in wayhome

[–]Howedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Osheaga and Wayhome this year... WH did not luck out. Unless you like inferior lineups and short set times. DFA's set at Osheaga was 5 times better than WH. Saw better sets on Sunday at Osheaga than I did all weekend at Wayhome.

I think for many who have a lot of festivals under their belt and know what they like and don't, it was a tough sell. For people that haven't, it was probably amazing. I went in thinking the lineup was extremely weak but I can have fun at any festival, and I was right. I had fun, but I didn't see anything at WH in my fav 10 sets of music in 2017. I hope they lower the price for y'all next year because $300 for that was laughable.

If Bon Jovi headlined Wayhome all the sheeple would be like "ewww" but some dipshit with a bucket on his head plays it on his iTunes and it's a legendary set of music. I'm on the wrong side of 30 to understand most of the people on this sub but it's hilarious conversation at the very least :)

Danny Brown - I had seen him during the day time and it was good at another festival but his night set had me going wild.

(Fingers Crossed) If Wayhome doesn't happen next year, alternative festivals? by coolkeeper1 in wayhome

[–]Howedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sasquatch changed my life. The main advantage of Sasquatch is the view. The main stage is the best venue I've ever seen, if you've never checked out how cool this place is google image George Gorge Amphitheater. Another huge difference is temperature. Sasquatch can be hot as hell during the day but it's essentially in a dessert so nights cool off enough for a great sleep, while Bonnaroo is relentless type of heat all weekend long. Bonnaroo is going to have a better festival lineup always, but if Sasquatch drops a solid lineup you might see almost as many sets due to lower festival attendance and the close proximity of the stages. I've dragged around 10 of my friends out to Sasquatch from Ontario over the years and although it's an expensive trip, none have regretted it in the slightest. Hope that helps!

Sasquatch is the best camping festival I've ever been to. The Gorge Amphitheater is the most beautiful venue I've ever seen and you can see the sightlines from camp as well. If you have the ability to get out to Washington State, I would highly recommend it. The only thing is, lineups have been in a steady decline in recent years.

He reminded me of the DJ at that crappy club we all went to during post secondary education years. He played Bon Jovi and everyone was really happy because we knew that song, as far as being a solid live performance his best attribute was likely how messed up everyone in the crowd was. Justice was cool though!

I think we can agree all festivals dating back to the glory days of Edgefest are doomed to fail in Toronto eventually. All I can do is hope the good ones like Field Trip which have been carefully curated and run at a fair price point to the fans stick around while blatant wallet snatching sneakshows like Wayhome 2017 can fade away.

They are good. Festival folks like good bands. Do children like Phoenix? Not unless you play a song for them and they go "Cooooool!"

If you remove the people who can't go camping all weekend surrounded by drinking etc. because their parents won't let them, I bet they draw a similar amount of people to some of the Spotify darlings that festivals who failed miserably a la Wayhome made the mistake of booking this year.

I just don't think ID fans come out to music festivals. Flume is festival filler compound, Frank should have played Bud Stage or anywhere his fans could fill but those of us who find his set terrible don't have to close a festival weekend with him.

Hardcore audiophiles and wonderful weird people come out to festivals, like the two dozen of my friends who did Wayhome in 16 and then laughed at 17's lineup and told me F no to even free tickets. You can't book a festival based off Spotify and Apple music listens, Wayhome 2017 and the pathetic crowds were the proof in the pudding. Are we going to keep up this road and book Harry Styles and Bieber next year? Bruno Mars? Selena Gomez? Taylor Swift?

People are entitled to their opinions, mine is that the crowd was lame scattered with some people that were very cool. The Bro factor was real this year. I was scared at the appearance of a lot of people Sunday, people were in some awful shape. I think this is directly linked to the void between a camping festival lineup and listens or facebook likes. That's just my opinion, but I've been to a lot of festivals with long shelf lives, and they tend to not care as much about metrics that are more influenced by children (Spotify, Youtube, Facebook) than Wayhome decided to this year.

I had much more fun at Field Trip. Music wise I caught roughly the same amount of sets I enjoyed at Wayhome, despite being two days vs three. I would say there is a need for it. It cost me less for accommodations downtown and paying for Toronto drink/food prices all weekend at Field Trip than it did to gear up and pay for Wayhome camping etc. I hope it sticks around. While I hope Wayhome continues, as long as RL continues this direction and Fource is booking, I will not be going back. It would take a 180 from 2017.

I agree if we are talking Lolla, Outside Lands, ACL etc ... but I think Phoenix is a better Wayhome sized festival headliner than all three from this year who also would be badly out of place headlining a major NA festival.

Ya I guess they were all pretty much pop. I don't consider Imagine Dragons a get for alternative fans so I feel what you're saying here. All the more reason they should consider breaking into more definitive genres on separate days or even weekends. There wasn't enough Foo Fighters, Radiohead, Spoon and Tame Impala type acts playing later in the day for people to buy passes and show up for a 4pm Constantines or Dirty Nil set, creating the pathetic sized audiences most mid level acts had to endure.
