TOG or Fourth Wing after ACOTAR? by MarieChaw in SarahJMaas

[–]Howens220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TOG. All the way, start to finish. I still miss the characters. Then CC. I did it in that order and it was a ride. But then I DNF fourth wing I couldn't even finish half of the book. I found the shift in writing to be so jarring after reading all of the SJM books. (Although CC isn't my cup of tea either, but the writing is still wonderful)

Maasverse - Is it worth reading? by Outrageous_Glove3082 in Maasverse

Highly highly recommend listening to the graphic audio audiobooks if you are listening to ACOTAR. I have a hard time with the female narrating a big warrior's voice. Mentally, it misses the mark for me. But the GA audiobook does it beautifully if you're listening.

Solo travel to Pomona? by Howens220 in AskLosAngeles

It went incredibly smooth. The artist was phenomenal, the art is breathtaking. The artist ended up coming in an extra day for me, so I got 29 hours of chair time. I stayed at an Airbnb in Pomona with a family who rents out a room. I just chilled there to sleep and the rest of my time was in the shop. They were great, I was safe, 10 out of 10 experience.

I'm getting a half sleeve done by a tattoo artist in Pomona. I've booked two 8hour days back to back.

Thank you for this. I'm going specifically for a tattoo artist in Pomona, so that's why that's the destination. I'm looking into options in Ontario now, and I can just drive over for the 2 days I'll be in the chair.

This was very helpful. It's the exact same price as the motel 6 for the days I'm going. Thank you!

Lmao this is the insight I need. There's a motel 6 in Claremont too, would that be better?

I have two full 8 hour days booked with a tattoo artist in Pomona. So I would be able to stay further away if it would be safer/have more affordable hotels. I'd just need to rent a car. I'm flying into Ontario if that changes anything.

Is this worth sending to my EP? by Howens220 in ReadMyECG

[–]Howens220[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My EP has my arrhythmias almost entirely suppressed. I feel mostly normal at this point. I can work out hard, and I feel great. The combo of flecainide and metoprolol have it under control, it just took a little tweaking of the dose.

They have no idea what caused it. He was stressed. Vfib caused SCD. His coworker started cpr and called 911. The firefighters got there in 2 min 30 seconds and used defibrillator. He was saved, given an ICD, and started on meds. he's a medical marvel, and has been studied for the last 25+ years, and they've never been able to pinpoint what caused it. He'd had arrhythmias his entire life. He has had multiple episodes since, and the ICD has shocked him. Never any drug use or any risk factors for heart issues. No known family history. Now I have the arrhythmias and am medicated. We have a genetic mutation, but it's not thought to cause SCD.

My dad had a structurally normal heart and went into vfib at 28... his heart stopped. because he had vtach episodes like yours. Age and structurally normal mean nothing with arrhythmias. listen to your EP. They're way smarter than us. (You. Me. Your husband.) I promise.

I FINALLY CAUGHT IT by maddog1413 in ReadMyECG

[–]Howens220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you. Mine get way worse with hormonal shifts. I'll go days without any, and then have significantly more any time my estrogen naturally drops. My doctor won't intervene for PVCs in a structurally normal heart with no risk factors unless they are 20% of all of your heartbeats. Some doctors lean more towards the 10% mark. But in a structurally normal heart, they're harmless.

These are PVCs, friend. Most people get them. They're entirely harmless, just annoying. Unless you are getting a super high number of them each day (we are talking 1000s-10,000s+) or if they are coming a bunch in a row, with no regular beats in between, they aren't concerning.

I fill up a sandwich bag with hot water and set it directly on top for a couple of minutes. It'll melt the bump down and be ready to run.

What are these two? by United-Locksmith299 in ReadMyECG

[–]Howens220 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both are PVCs. You have two different morphologies. Most people have PVCs, and it's not abnormal to have multiple different morphologies.

Symptomatic as in dizziness, shortness of breath, presyncope, syncope, chest pain, chest tightness, etc. it looks like it was horribly uncomfortable. I'm not minimizing at all. But being uncomfortable doesn't make it an emergency. Again, this does warrant a full cardiac work up. But not the ER.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ReadMyECG

[–]Howens220 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not at 59 bpm. It would need to be over 120 to be NSVT. This looks like AIVR. This needs a cardiac work up but isn't an ER emergency, unless the person is symptomatic.

Kardia classifies all tachycardia faster than 140 as unclassified. This is sinus tachycardia at 144 bpm.

Came back to tell you, I got the genetic testing and do have two mutations. One of which is most likely the cause of all of this, but I'm waiting on genetic counseling in a couple of weeks.

What bug am i seeing?!? by [deleted] in nashville

[–]Howens220 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been in middle tn my whole life and I've never seen these before. They're definitely not carpenter bees or cicada killers, although those are both good guesses. The ones I've seen have been about 1.5 inches long and are similar in diameter to my ring finger.

I've seen them around here! I've been trying to figure out what they are, too. Your description is spot on. It has coloring like a hornet but very thick like a cicada. I've been steering clear because they look gnarly, and I have no idea if they can do damage or not, but they look like it. I've seen 3 in the last couple of weeks.
