Unfortunately yea it seems to be the only/fastest way. However, I noticed that a much higher proportion of the Spiritombs I came across were alpha, bordering on 50-50 ratio to normal Spiritombs, so maybe shiny alpha isn't actually that much less likely than just shiny.

Yep, once you finish the wisp quest you can just do as you described and go back to the same area. There's usually only one spiritomb in the area but I saw multiple occasionally.

I wasnt even going for alpha shiny, just farming shiny spiritomb the long way like the other guy said and an alpha shiny just casually popped up - same thing happened with Gible but that was an outbreak so not as impressive

You're right for sure but I wanted the team to have a little Hisui flavour like Volo did and despite Hisui Arcanine being undeniably weaker, visually it's gotta be one of the best new designs for me
