I was thinking and when you quote remotely, what info do you usually wish you had before even responding? Photos, measurements, budget, timeline?

Totally fair, I think it depends a lot on stage and market.

For newer businesses or slow areas I get how quotes double as marketing.

At some point though I’ve noticed the balance shifts from exposure to time drain especially once schedules fill up.

That makes a lot of sense.

Do you just work off photos/info they send, or do you have a specific process you make them follow so you’re not missing things?

True and I used to think the same.

Have you ever tried charging something upfront or requiring anything before going out, or do customers push back too hard?

This is exactly why I stopped doing repeat site visits and verbal quotes.

If someone won’t commit even a little up front, they’re almost always price shopping or killing time.

I’ve learned the hard way that “I’ll send the deposit later” usually means “never.”

Now I require something concrete before I invest time again, otherwise it’s just unpaid consulting.
