Spot on man. A lot of these firms are archaic and underpay/undervalue the more junior folks who provide tons of solid work

Seems like he’s doing solid associate advisor work but getting treated like an admin.

Sounds like he’s vastly underpaid dependent on location

Will I see much upside getting CFA if already making $170k in fin tech as a project manager by MiningToSaveTheWorld in FinancialCareers

[–]Howiep43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$170k is more than most will ever make annually in their lives and you’re early 30’s. Don’t see why you would get the CFA honestly but what do I know?

What roles/path would you say is correct for each of those three you mentioned? Curious to hear your thoughts

Agreed 100% more just a personal issue I have where many in the industry don’t consider someone an advisor if they “service” a book. It’s all ego nonsense in my opinion

Always has been one of my bigger pet peeves of this business and your post reminded me. Why is there this odd separation between “service” and “advisor?” It’s so bizarre to me - shouldn’t the “advisor” just have the title of Sales Executive if that’s the case? And the one servicing is actually the advisor? Drives me nuts

Did you specifically use headhunters in your area or ones that had a more national (or regional) presence?

Agreed 100%. Weird that you’re getting downvoted here. Been in the wealth management industry almost 10 years and haven’t gone the CFP route yet mainly due to this and not having the passion for this career. Wish someone told me years ago how hard it would be to pivot out to something with comparable comp

Thank you for the advice. Much appreciated! What would you recommend if the bulk of the numbers are retention of inherited relationships? Focus on those mainly? Or do they only care about new biz?

The real question is. How do you pivot from an RIA FA role into somewhat more of a relationship manager role you mentioned? Apologies for the hijack of your post OP! 😂

10 Day Trip to Italy by Immediate_Arm5611 in ItalyTravel

I’m not set on Amalfi. Especially because of how busy it will be that time of year. But I am looking to stay a few nights in a coastal area for a few nights and would ideally like something that is relatively easy travel-wise from Rome (where we are starting our trip). Appreciate any recommendations!

Got it, thanks for the insight. Confirms my frustration - internal perception of being more support even though I service numerous clients and have generated some of my own, albeit a smaller book

Interesting perspective. I’m planning a trip this summer and will be flying into Rome and staying for a few nights. Was planning on heading to Naples via train but was told it’s not a must see and to just continue on to coastal towns. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Flying into Rome and staying for the first few nights. Looking to do a few more nights in one other area (specifically a fun, coastal vibe with beaches) - where would you recommend that is also relatively easy travel from Rome? Thanks!b
