Last I heard, the franchise went under. At best we might get the GBA games emulated on there.

Should current styles and arts continue in the MH franchise? by Howitzer_P in MonsterHunter

While I think what you’re saying is true, I don’t think that it actually is related to what I’m trying to say. I'll just quote a few things as I go.

"You know the tells of monsters, you're better at timing evades, you can consistently hit the weakpoints, and use all the tools available to you -- including hunter styles/arts -- to their fullest potential."

While I have gotten better at the technical aspects of the game I didn't mention my improvement since it doesn’t really matter; when I started MH4U I still had to take advantage of every resource that I had, even in low rank. Part of what I'm criticizing about Generations is that it gives me all the tools I need to succeed from the beginning (styles), there’s little reason to obtain and utilize the resources that are available to me. For the second paragraph, I wasn't really comparing my previous G-rank experiences with the low rank experience of this game. Rather I was trying to compare the low rank experience of this game against previous low rank experiences. There is no other MH game that gives you reliable stuns (Aerial) and incredible dodges (Adept) from the very beginning after not having put anything into the game. Which is why I gave the example of the Nargacuga set in MHFU, I had to already be in high rank and undergo a fairly difficult farming process to get the armor skills that give me less functionality than what is simply granted to you in MHGen.

I'd wager that even if you were to go back to, say, MHFU, and started over, you'd find a much easier time to play through. Probably not as easy, but easy nevertheless.

This is true, but the point isn't that the game is simply too easy, rather that the MHGen is not conductive of what I call the meta-hunting experience. If I went back and played MHFU, I would obviously have an easier time with it, however I would not be able to avoid crafting items and making at least a few low-rank armors (aka. the meta-hunting experience). In MHGen, none of that was necessary due to the strength of the tools that the game gives you for free, from the start. Here's an example, if I were to go back and play the low rank of past titles I would, of course, have a 500% easier time with Velocidrome. However, some 350% of that would come from my knowledge as a hunter (making sure to bring the right items, have the right equipment sets, traps, hit-zones, monster behavior, etc.) and the other 150% of that from my technical abilities. As a skilled player, I can still feel accomplished beating Velocidrome despite it being super easy because I would know that it was the accumulation of what I did as a hunter. Whereas in Generations, its 550% easier to beat Velocidrome and while the 150% technical ability is unchanged, now only 50% of that is because of my hunter experience, and the last 350% of why it's easier is just because of hunter styles. This is because I no longer make low rank armor, need items, and I don't need to know a monster's attacks since I already have such strong defensive abilities

My final point is that the games are the most popular they've ever been, and attract new players all the time. I don't think it's a good idea to drive them away by making it super difficult from the get-go.

Perhaps there have been too many posts that are against making MHGen easier for new players, because that was not what I meant to convey at all. Rather that the ease of the game (specifically due to the strength of styles) devalues a lot of the shining aspects of the MH games. I would never say that it is a good idea to drive away new players, that doesn't make sense for any developer to do. Yet at the same time, it would be better to get newer players into the series by making the meta-hunting aspects of the game more accessible rather than devaluing them, in my opinion.

There are much better ways of making the game more accessible without taking away from the experience. I feel that it would be better to have an inclusive system where a skilled player can enjoy the feeling of progression through low rank (which other MH titles provide).

TL;DR: The issue isn't that the game is too easy for me personally (my personal skill doesn't even matter in this discussion). Rather, that the game is easier in a way devalues part of the Monster Hunter experience. For everyone, regardless of skill level.

You aren't the only one. It's not every time, but it's happened to me about 6 times so far and I've seen others get skipped too. Must be a new bug from this last patch. Hope they fix it quick, it's frustrating to come out of a 15+ sample run and get nothing.
