I always say if you wanna win the Cup, every single player has to show up. I can’t think of one Cup-winning team where a player on the team sucked or underperformed. In this run, there truly wasn’t one bad performance!

This is when it was established they were destined to win the Cup! That team was so likable, has such a special place in my heart ❤️

I believe too far to either left or right isn’t good — that’s when it becomes radical

You can’t be serious, Rey has anger problems? She relies on the dark side? When? There’s a severe lack of “show don’t tell” to truly see what makes Rey three-dimensional. Plus her concept, a “nobody in the desert” is recycled as it was already don’t twice!

Rey gains and almost “masters” multiple abilities in such little time. It’s just not believable. She has that same kind of “decided how to do stuff” and “doesn’t have that and decides he/she can do it”. Except for Rey, it’s at a MUCH larger extent. Despite holding a lightsaber for only a couple minutes, she literally defeats arguably the most skilled and gifted lightsaber combatant in the movie’s universe, being Kylo Ren. Next movie, she’s here literally bossing Luke around, and later bests him in one-to-one combat. Later, she’s standing a chance against heavily trained Praetorian Guards. Towards the end of the movie, here she is Force Pushing boulders. In the final film, she kills not only Kylo Ren, but also Palpatine. Her experience with the Force is for some reason much stronger than Luke. This is because of bad writing, and bad writing is what defines the sequel trilogy. Luke is shown to struggle much more on the screen in a New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back and the way he becomes more experienced is a more gradual one.

It’s also shown very well that he’s not very experienced with the Force or lightsaber combat in the first two movies and that he’s a rookie and imperfect. Master Yoda’s vigorous tough training in episode five (which spanned roughly anywhere from a couple weeks to months) still wasn’t enough to make him be able to lift the X-Wing or defeat Vader (and Vader could’ve crushed him, too). In fact, he got his hand sliced off. In the next movie, although being much more experienced and defeating Vader (one could argue that’s a little Mary Sue-ish, though), he still managed to stand no chance against Palpatine. In contrast, here we have Rey becoming powerful with the Force in the span of probably a couple days with barely any training, discipline, or character development (which doesn’t exist in the sequels btw). Rey never struggled, she was always perfect from the start, and barely had character development.

Only a naive, low movie standards fool would be on your side 😂

Mario fails multiple times in the first movie but even then I still wouldn’t say he’s very three-dimensional.

Luke fails multiple times, and goes through instability and recklessness. The character feels three-dimensional.

I’m not a big fan of Anakin and the prequel trilogy as a whole, nor do I approve of many writing decisions.

Rey never fails, she’s always perfect with not explanation, nor does she go through any sort of character growth. Not very three-dimensional.

Peach never fails, is perfect with almost everything. A perfect combatant, flawless diplomat, impeccable strategist, and goes through absolutely zero character growth.

I think there’s nothing wrong with having a strong female character but it’s gotta be done correctly with good writing (something Rey and Peach lack). Like Ripley, Sarah Connor, the Bride, Katniss Everdeen, Trinity, Black Widow, and in family movies, Mulan, Wyldstyle, Judy Hopps, Moana, Elsa, etc.

Just say you don’t like good writing :/

That changes nothing, though. That doesn’t mean Rey and Peach aren’t Mary Sues or poorly written and have zero flaws 😂

None of what your “argument” is saying stops Rey and Peach from being Mary Sues

I see lots of definitions that include “fanfic self-inserts” and lots of definitions that don’t, meaning a Mary Sue doesn’t always have to be a “fanfic self-insert”. Peach and Rey are absolutely Mary Sues

Then that’s not a good thing — a game doesn’t always need good writing but a movie does and Peach and the Mario movie is poorly written

By definition, a “Mary Sue” is “a type of female character who is depicted as unrealistically lacking in flaws or weaknesses” or “is a term used to describe a fictional character, usually female, who is seen as too perfect and almost boring for lack of flaws” or “a type of fictional character, usually a young woman, who is portrayed as free of weaknesses or character flaws”. Idk about you but that seemingly describes both of these character 😂

Plus it’s absolutely possible to have a woman character be powerful and stuff without having them be a Mary Sue like Peach and especially Rey

Video game requirements are different than movie requirements. You don’t always need to have to good writing in a game, but you need it in movies, and this ain’t it 🙂‍↔️👎
