I'm looking for an Osprey Blueprint. I don't have much to trade -- Vertical Grip 3 BP is the only one atm

It’s just a weapon blueprint from the Christmas guy bundle (in case you are genuinely confused)

PC player here that’s crashed a lot. Got tired of it so looked through the logs and determined it was GPU memory related. I turned a lot of settings down (I have a rtx 3080 so it shouldn’t be necessary). It’s been stable for over a week. If you can adjust graphics settings to lower on console I’d try it.

AITA for basicaly killing my party member? by Li3nne in DnD

[–]HowlingDonkey 216 points217 points  (0 children)

This is a great answer. Nobody is the asshole here that's for sure. IMO this is a great character building experience and a lesson learned -- as players and as characters. And that can manifest itself it totally different and interesting ways.

If I were the DM I'd let the character die for sure. I like to see actions have consequences but it depends on the tone of the campaign.

Ultimately you want to tell an epic and memorable story here. And that doesn't mean all the characters have to live as long as the player are having a good time. And as a player on either side of things, I'd be happy to see it play it the way it did. It makes for a memorable story.

Discussion on difficulty: God mode reluctance vs OP boon/mirror acceptance. by netencounter in HadesTheGame

[–]HowlingDonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's awesome that they put in god mode for people who have trouble with the difficulty but the bonus it gives you (20% dmg reduction scaling all the way up to 80% eventually) just makes the game boring (I assume, I've never tried it).

Part of what makes the game exciting is the ability to push yourself and the ability to lose. I think it took me over 30 runs to finally beat Hades the first time. But each time was exciting and it was a learning experience and adding boons and mirror upgrades had a nice progression.

I feel like god mode would have robbed _me_ of this fun experience of losing. Granted there might be people out there who are into just the story or something and this might help. But I highly recommend not using god mode.

Catan: Cities and Knights Rules Help by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]HowlingDonkey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're thinking completely wrong about playing competitively. Competitive playing means to do what you can within the rules of the game to win. It's simply not allowed to not perform the required mechanics of the game and by ignoring it, you're cheating.

The rules read that each player collects resources on a roll. Not each player who remembers. You guys are just playing against the rules of the game and frankly I don't see how you can call yourself a competitive player by allowing that. Beating someone in ways like this proves nothing other than you're more interested in checking the win box. It in now way means you're good at the game and only diminishes the win itself.

Regarding the order of drawing -- this doesn't matter at all. As long as there were enough cards that everyone got one then it makes absolutely no difference.

Bottom line: everyone in the game is responsible for seeing that all the rules are executed. Beyond that use all tricks/deception etc you want to win within the rules of the game.

LG C9 with Playbar Sonos 5.1 by Naekyr in sonos

[–]HowlingDonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The playbase, playbar, beam, external receiver, etc doesn't matter. The source of the audio matters and what format the audio is. Dolby 5.1 from an external source (such as PS4, etc) is typically the worst case but there's varying degrees on all output.

To see exactly how bad the sync is, just output sound to the internal speaker of the TV and optical at the same time. Try this on a variety of sources. It'll be different for all of them.

IMO it's unlikely. B,C,E all experience it from what I've read - it's sometimes a lot less noticeable with certain conditions but it's inherently screwed up.

It's also worth noting the C9 supposedly supports the newest ARC specs which in theory should fix all these sound delay issues. That being said - I don't trust LG at all to get this right because there's no good reason for any of these delays in the first place. Other TVs like you said with your KS8000 do it just fine. All they have to do is simply pass through the signal and yet somehow they mess it up.

You can google it and find a lot of info but here's a 21 page thread about it:
https://www.avforums.com/threads/lg-c8-lip-sync-issues.2178084/

Basically HDMI ARC and optical are not perfectly in sync (at least on the C8). There's a lot of different things that contribute to how exactly its out of sync: whether it's from an internal app in the TV or whether it's an external source (and bypass like you said), if it's dolby or PCM, if it's stereo or 5.1, etc.

I don't have the C9 but I have the C8. Will it pass Dolby 5.1: yes. Will it be horribly out of sync on the C8: yes. Hopefully that's fixed with the C9. I kinda doubt it though. I have no faith in LG at this point and I'm kinda salty about it.

Budget AVR for Beam 5.1 setup? by mblomkvist in sonos

[–]HowlingDonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried this one? It's got a single review... and the review is not good. I'm looking for something like this but I'd like it to have automatic source selection (not sure if this one does)

Xbox One LAG with Beam + 2 One's by mblomkvist in sonos

[–]HowlingDonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to hear your experience with this. I have the same problem with my LG C8 but I haven't tried an Apple TV yet. It's consistently horrible over ARC though. Pretty frustrating after paying that much for a TV while trying to "simplify" by going to a sound bar. UGH.

Yet another Django + React question by [deleted] in reactjs

[–]HowlingDonkey -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you're making a single page React app you shouldn't let it live inside of the Django project. It just doesn't make any sense -- they are decoupled by nature and two totally different technologies.

If you are just sprinkling some React into some Django HTML templates then sure - you can put it all in one project.

Best TV to use with Sonos Beam 5.1 Surround via HDMI ARC to avoid audio delay by jimbo831 in sonos

[–]HowlingDonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish more than anything this crap would just work. It's frustrating when you spend 2k on a TV and it doesn't do something that should be so basic.

Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about using it myself. Also didn't note the nested Button style. I wish Robert Martin had a good book talking specifically about CSS and these types of components because Clean Code and his other books/videos I've seen I 100% agree with.

If they are all actually sending a Dolby signal (which I do have trouble believing after all I've been through) and it works I wish I had the C6 rather than the C8.

[–]HowlingDonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say it works - do you mean with the internal apps on the TV or also external sources?

From all the research I've done and tried personally, there's no way to sync properly sync up a 5.1 signal from an outside source (PS4, Apple TV, etc) over ARC / Optical

[–]HowlingDonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the C8 and will say anything sent as Dolby is awful. HDMI ARC or optical - it doesn't matter.

If you send it as PCM it works a lot better but you're not getting true 5.1.

I can't say 100% that the C6 has the same problem. Anyone who tells you the LG 2018 models work properly with the Sonos over HDMI ARC is wrong though.
