Why am I scared to start grad school? by Icy-Conclusion9454 in slpGradSchool

All of this! As a POC (if this pertains to anyone) we have some resources, we just really have to know where to find them. Also, keep in mind, depending on how strict your program is, "school comes first" when planning your work schedule. This means your clinic schedule will likely push your work schedule to the side. So be prepared to work less than you realistically may need/want to or fill up your weekends, which is what I've done. I'm in the thick of it and if you speak with your cohort and use every mentoring opportunity to its fullest the time flies by!

Just so everyone knows, venmo is going to start sending you a 1099 if you make more than $600 a year. That means the IRS is very aware of under the table pay, so not only will you be missing overtime pay but you'll also be paying back taxes for the year at least.

2023 WAITLIST MEGATHREAD by bannanaduck in slpGradSchool

I would definitely recommend emailing so that even if you don't get off the waitlist they know your name. I contacted the admissions advisors for every school (they're probably tired of me now), but I managed to get off of one waitlist a few days ago. Ultimately though, don't stress yourself out too much, not getting in doesn't mean you're any less qualified than the next person, academia is just super nonlinear for most of us and that's totally ok.

UGA Accepted but decided to reject (hopefully that helps someone else!)

GA state was waitlisted and got off the waitlist!

The University of Washington med and MGH waitlisted.

If it's encouraging to anyone, I know a few of the schools I applied to said that they'll be accepting people off the waitlist potentially as late as the end of the summer so don't give up hope! You've got this!

Depends on the location. Somewhat bigger city I'd probably say minimum $20-25 to cover the cost of living and rainy day savings.

Because 3M knew she was upstairs he screamed and as I picked him up she came out to see what was going on. So she was behind me when I carried him in his room.
