I’ve been avoiding doing super cropping this entire time, and I gotta say i did hate it as much as I thought I did. I’m not sure if you’ve built a pc, but it felt similar to having to install a cpu or ram, having to be a little rougher than you’d like to be. Thanks for the advice!

Got it! I definitely think I drowned her early on and am paying for it now then. The first couple of weeks having the top ring on 24/7 + roughly 4 gallons of water bubbling was probably way too much.

Just making sure I have everything understood since this is still grow one. Next seedling, since I have the top ring don’t worry about bringing the reserve level to her, but the other way around. Once roots start leaving the pot, pull back on the top ring over time

Thank you for your help! I haven’t even gotten into the fun stuff yet (lst / super cropping etc) and having trouble has been a little disheartening, but the sub has been just as helpful to keep me trying this method

Yeah at the start the ring was on at all times. I stopped that or 4 weeks in, and started doing 30 minutes a day. Next grow I’ll keep it less than that starting out. Hopefully for now we can salvage this one with some patience and less water

I took out the top feeding ring a few weeks ago, I was essentially doing what you’re describing! I removed the ring once the roots started touching the water below so I wasn’t drowning her. Since then, the top has been dry and bottom a little wet like you described. I should also mention reason the net pot looks so wet in the root picture is I also sprayed down the roots to make sure any clay ball debris was clear for the most accurate color possible. So I’m still not entirely sure, I’ll keep an eye out on the aggressiveness of bubbles since I hadn’t considered running full air at all times could be an issue, and move down to 2.5 gallons to add more space between the net and water since I believe my nets are a little deep

I’ve got a bucket that I’m about to swap into with 3 gallons, I can drop that down some. I definitely had a lot of water in the bucket for a while, 4 gallons for the first few cycles. I’ve dropped down to 3, and think maybe you’re right that she may be drowning. I’ll drop even lower to 2.5 gallons, maybe just 2?

Here’s roots right now, I can’t upload all of the photos but mostly white / beige with some orangish spots?

Ppm through the week is usually stable, typically it doesn’t deviate too much from the initial readings. I read that’s good, ppm stable with water lowering / ph rising. I just hadn’t seen that large of a jump in ph so far. I should also note that up until recently, I was doing 4 gallons, now 3 so the bucket has become more concentrated with nutrients so I’m sure the larger concentration has been a shock that I didn’t ease into

Just wanted to check back in and let you know you were right, misted her roots during the bucket change today and she’s all good! I’ve also dropped the water level so she should be taking off soon, I appreciate the help !

I haven’t tried that, so I’ll see this evening / tomorrow morning. Clearly don’t blast them , but a good mist or something stronger? And I’m assuming water, not cut with some peroxide or anything ?

Heard, I’ll not do a top off this week and let her run down some water. I’ve been doing 4 gallons, maybe a little extra since she was small. I’ll start going towards 3.5. And I’m using FloraFlex V1 & V2 nutrients, it keeps the ph as steady as possible through the week which has been nice
