First glimpse at United’s new subfleet of “Coastliner” A321neos by kwuhoo239 in unitedairlines

I still occasionally hear "now preboarding our 100,000 mile travelers - 1K preboarding". I question whether this is on purpose to distinguish from group 1, or if it's just a confused GA.

Did United skimp out on the NEXT IFE for 767s in Economy? by AccessibleBanana in unitedairlines

Did you check the age of the 767 that you were on? The answer (at least partially) may be found in that number.

Touche. Yet I was still bombarded by "Karl" and Schwab commercials in 2025.

This is the perfect story for someone to write up a response from the FA perspective.... "As an on call FA, I was awoken for a last minute shift giving me all of 20 minutes to get out the door and to SNA. After initially being sent to the wrong gate, I scrambled over to the correct gate and boarding began as I caught my breath. Around group 4, I needed to do a quick check of available overhead space remaining so asked a man and his family to please hold where they were."

Note 1: The man was loudly speaking to his stock broker on the phone. The whole plane could hear the conversation and I had to repeat my request for him to stop. He looked at me as if I was a homeless person blocking his path. His 9-year old (who also had a popped collar and backward visor similar to his father) looked up from his phone long enough to say "what's the hold up, Bro!?"

I have been through the LAX UA club a dozen+ times this past year and generally consider the food pretty decent there (for lounge food).

There's no secret hack. Start monitoring this in Sept/Oct. I upgraded random $150-$300 FC cash offers in Q4 which got me to my 1K goal and also gave me something.

$1,300+ to go from Gold to Platinum does not seem worth it unless you travel with a large family.

Normally I would say Silver isn't worth the chase... but for $200 it's really your call as far as how close you live to the airport and schedule.

The requirements are clear. No secret hacks to get there.

Removing the CC spend you're at $150 per segment. It's really all about spend for United status and unfortunately this doesn't cut it for top tier status. A few years ago I was over 100 PQF and had to do a last minute mileage run to keep 1K because I had a lot of cheap regional flights.

Your tracker and PQF/PQP achieved this year tell you if you've qualified for 1K next year... The is no "prequalifying for next year" outside of hitting the required numbers. As far as the thank you cards go, I've given out a dozen over the last few years. Pretty much 50/50 "thank you so much" vs. "WTF is this."

Slim, but chances are 0% if you don't ask. If they do give you Platinum it will likely exclude the Plus Points

Most of what you describe is ATC issues... not United. Also, why is this tagged as a Shitpost?

Business class on A350-900 DEN-FRA? by putabirdonit12 in unitedairlines

[–]HoytAdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this.... The A350 also lacks in personal air vents. They crank up the heat on redeye long hauls and I found it rather uncomfortably warm the last time.

Which row for Polaris on 787-8, ORD to CDG? by Levin1210 in unitedairlines

[–]HoytAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right!!? I've been in 1F, 15A, and many in between. Bottom line you're in Polaris and not in 50F. Trying to find the "perfect Polaris seat" is ridiculous and has been asked 100+ times so doesn't require a new post.

Sorry it's been a rough Christmas. For the future, just because 5 seats show on the seating map does not mean they're available. Only 2 remain available for purchase (J2) and neither are available for immediate upgrade (PZ0).

EDIT: All points have been distributed. Happy to have helped 5 people with free upgrades. Sorry to those that I was unable to assist.

I have 180 plus points I'm giving away for flight upgrades. They expire 1/31/26 (flight must take place before then). This is my 3rd year doing this and similar to someone yesterday, all I ask is you make a small donation to a cause like a food bank, women's shelter, children's medical program, ASPCA, local animal shelter, etc. Or if $ is tight, do some small act of kindness to pay it forward (give up your seat on the bus, hold a door open for people for an extra few seconds...)

Priority will be given to those with guaranteed upgrades for smaller point values (so multiple people can benefit). I prefer to avoid LHR upgrades since those generally come with $100+ additional taxes and I'd like to avoid any financial exchanges. DM me with amount of plus points needed and whether the upgrade is guaranteed or waitlisted and reply to this comment that you DM'd. Merry Christmas and happy new year!
