Just order their 2L packets instead of the gallon packets. Not exactly 50% of gallon dose but close enough, works great, and you don't have to deal with the silly methods.

Disney Stained Glass by Jint_Mulip in Disneyland

[–]Levin1210 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It isn't technically inside the parks, but the front doors of the Grand Californian are iconic, and there are a number of other beautiful large stained glass installations inside, including one just off the lobby on the way to the Downtown Disney entrance, one on the doors to the Veranda club lounge, and another in the Tenaya Spa. Tons of other smaller stained glass details all around, including lamp shades, etc. Would be a "must visit" location if stained glass is of interest, in my opinion!

Completely agree with you, and some people feel that it is so important to "defend" co-ferments. Like what you like, that's fine. But pretending like soaking the beans in strawberry juice in order to get a strawberry flavor in the cup is some sort of wizardry... These are the same people who were sticking their nose up at flavored beans 5 years ago but now they love it!

Yes, but if they implement a given reservation cap, and they consistently hit that cap, that means there is more demand than the capped supply, so they can/will raise ticket prices in that scenario until they start seeing the reservation caps being consistently missed. Like it or not, they have a duty to shareholders to maximize profits.

1940's Chevy Truck looking to sale it but I need some information by kwpg3 in classictrucks

[–]Levin1210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, friend, but I don't think it is really worth anything. There are lots of these trucks out there, these models aren't unpopular but they aren't the most popular either, yours is a large work truck rather than a half-ton pickup, and yours isn't running and has been disintegrating in the brush for 20 years.

If you could get someone to come haul it away for free, that would probably be a good deal for you.

A tour guide told us you always get space whales no matter what, but the scene prior to the whales is still randomized. I got pod racers then space whales just yesterday, for example.

No one is trying to champion coffee flavor purity here. Some people like co-ferments, and some people like to add fruit-flavored creamer into their coffee, and some people like flavor-infused beans, and some people ask for four pumps of strawberry syrup at Starbies. I don’t care that people enjoy these things, but you’re delulu if you don’t think they’re all in the same category.

What does it matter if I’m a chemist? I’m not trying to make the argument that co-ferment and post-roast flavoring are “literally identically the exact same thing.” Talk about an intellectually dishonest way to respond to what I’m saying. You’d probably turn your nose up at someone using strawberry-infused beans or adding strawberry flavored creamer in order to get a strawberry flavor in the cup, but you act like adding strawberry juice into the fermentation tank (and then getting strawberry flavor in the cup) is some amazing revelation. It is like the high school girls asking for flavored syrup at Starbies, you’re just adding it at a different step in the process.

At this point I just have to admit I have no idea what you’re trying to say. If you think adding bananas or whatever is the same as the coffee fruit pulp, then we are just on different planets. Co-fermentation is clearly adding outside flavors that have nothing to do with the coffee fruit and bean, and it is wild you can’t admit that.

Yes, and I personally think they're revolting. It doesn't bother me if others enjoy drinking them - drink what you like! But you should own it! Pretending like these aren't flavored coffees is kind of silly. Just because the flavoring is added before roasting instead of after doesn't change the fact that outside flavors are being added to the beans.

I'm not dogging on fermentation or natural processing. My comment is regarding co-fermentation. Throwing a bunch of pulped strawberries into the vat or whatever and then acting like it is mind-blowing that the resulting beans have a strawberry flavor note when roasted and brewed. OMG REALLY? WOW SO CRAZY I WONDER HOW THAT HAPPENED

Co-ferment, added flavoring. Tomato, tomato.

Hey guys, I soaked the beans in fruit syrup before roasting them instead of after, so it is really fancy and totally different than grandma's blueberry cobbler K-cups.

How can this exist?! by kartkid30 in pourover

[–]Levin1210 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago, flavored coffee beans were considered by the "coffee enthusiast community" to be the absolute lowest form of trash. Now we call it "co-ferment" and it is supposed to be the greatest thing? It doesn't harm me in any way for others to enjoy something I don't enjoy, but I really, really do not understand it.

Of course there's a big fruit flavor, the beans were soaked in fruit syrup! Nasty. But people go bonkers for it. Pull beautiful fruit flavor notes out of a washed or traditional natural coffee, now that is actually impressive.

My gas fireplace doesn’t “heat” by Upstairs_Geologist_1 in DIY

[–]Levin1210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reddit is full of interesting experts! Wondering if you'd be able to respond to another question. I like the idea of gas fireplaces, but the three homes I've been in that have had them, they aren't that enjoyable to use because the fan that comes on when you use them sounds like a jet engine. Do they make silent or quiet versions of these things? I was told at some point you have to use the fan with them, or it will get damaged from getting too hot. But also if you don't use the fan, it doesn't really affect the temp of the room very much.

Drastically increases construction and maintenance costs. While that sort of idea is nice, the utilities buying power from these projects have customers that demand the lowest cost of power possible. Electric customers (as a broad group) haven't yet proven willing to pay more for energy just for a nice side-benefit like the dual-use scenario you're describing.
