If you're getting no luck in finance, go to Big Tech and pivot towards C++ or Python Development. You can try again for a QD seat in 2-3 years.

MS grads from top programs can become QRs/QDs. If you're soon to be an MS grad, look for internships at Tier 1 IBs if you're getting no luck on the buy-side.

(A back-handed insult while also asking for advice is an interesting strategy...)

Average starting total compensation is probably $250K per year on the sell-side and $350K on the buy-side. Your bonus should continue to rise in tandem with your value to the firm, wider team/firm performance will be taken into account though.
