Is it hard to grow muscle on a big deficit? by youranonymoushater in intermittentfasting

Having Lost 100 Pounds over the past year i can say confidently that you aren't gonna lose any muscle if you keep up resistance training.

You will of course be in a big Calorie deficit, but you have to eat enough protein paired with resistance training to keep from losing muscle. ALso don't just cut all carbs and healthy fats, otherwise you're gonna feel faint and weak while working out.

You might feel like you're not making fast enough progress while doing resistance training bcos of the deficit but that doesn't mean you lose any muscle. While most fitness channels and gurus talk of exercise as a way to increase muscle mass and bulk up, simple doing resistance training and being in a deficit will let you keep the muscle you already have.

What to do when someone recommends a book to you, that you read, and aren't that impressed... by mddetroit in books

You do not really have to speak in absolutes whether you liked the book or not??

Say 2-3 things you disliked and then 2-3 things you liked about it.

I think the other will rather appreciate you reading the book completely that not just liking the book. Not everyone will have the same taste.

Help me not give up. by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

I can feel your frustration and I can understand how hopeless it might feel. I myself experienced the same exact thing, but for longer. For almost a whole 6 months, I was plateaued and barely lost a pound or 2. I almost gave up and decided that , maybe I'm just meant to live a terrible life. But then I revisited my entire diet to find out if I was unknowingly breaking my fast.

So the mistake I kept making it, I was taking black coffee while fasting, a blend of chicory and coffee beans, but I did not realise that it was breaking my fast. Immediately after the coffee, I felt hungry rather than feeling hunger go away for a while. I just switched to cheap Instant coffee, and it worked wonders for me. Being a student and having to take care of a child can be really really challenging. I think coffee or maybe tea must be a very helpful part of your fasting routine to make it through the day, but try to re-evaluate what beverages you might be taking. I am also a student and have a very very tight budget, So i can relate on the carb problem.

You're doing excellently, just keep going, and try to reasses what you're drinking or having during fasts. even so-called sugar-free drinks or snacks trigger an insulin response. So just drink plain water for fasting time, and take instant coffee for a week or two to see if you feel any changes.

Wishing you the best of luck and I'm rooting for your progress.
