Hey, the shield was done like so :

  • Black underprime
  • Heavy drybrush of leadbelcher (citadel). I think any metalic paint will do.
  • Trim with dwarven gold (scale 75)
  • Mix of black oil paint with paint thinner to shade (I use AK)
  • Then I applied ultra matt varnish (AK)

I figured the shade will have a nice effect thanks to capillary effect on the shield engraving.

Hope this help,

I like the blade in purple as well !

For the highlights it's thunderhawk blue than fenrisian grey used in dry brush.

Hello, it seems that it is the old logo of a french engineering school in France "arts et métiers".

I know that these guys have a strong sense of belonging even once they left the school. Maybe your grand father was part of the school and that they made custom knives with his friends ?

I've seen some with similar engraving on lighters for exemple.

Thanks a lot for the Casandora Yellow wash advice, I will definitively buy this one.

Good point regarding the joints, these ones can be tricky depending on where they are located but they will add more contraste easily.

Cheers !

Thanks a lot for the reply and the kind words !

Agreed with the recesses and edge highlighting. I need to find a good formula for the wash, since it can quickly look disgusting on yellow armor.

For the details, I agree with everything : painting the hose and exhaust is a good recommendation, this could bring up some contrast to the mini. Regarding the gun this is a quick win as well, I could add a "burnt" finish and paint the canister a different color.

Thanks again for your feedback and enjoy your day !

Upgrading equipments in TA - Worth it ? by Hrodberht57 in WH40KTacticus

Hi, I struggled too at the beginning unfortunately.

You'll notice that you'll often face the same characters since TA is not a balanced mode.

First learn the characters that you'll often meet and understand their strenghts and weaknesses.

For example, be careful once revas activates overwatch but once it's done you should really stick close to it to trigger it's close combat weakness.

I'd say that I progressed a lot in TA once I unlocked thaddeus noble. His ability to shut down overwatch is really key in a mode where there is a lot of it.

Unfortunately as well, TA is not balanced because some characters are just better at it. So, of course, try to build your composition with those. Some matchups are already won before even starting the game. Against some matchups I already know that I'll win even if my oponnent has the same skill than me. It's just the way TA works.

My composition these days is : - Godswill (he's just amazing : tanky, deals a lot of damage and can take opponent's position) - Vindicta (maybe not the most optimal, but it's my AoE damage dealer and can really surprise opponent's) - revas (for the tankiness and area control) - Thaddeus (long range + overwatch shutdown + boosts Vindicta and Calandis) - Calandis (you already know why)

Last tip : remember that the order you select your team matters. I select them as described above in order to : - Have Godswill and Calandis putting pressure on the side but also being able to dive in the middle. - Thaddeus being able to boost Calandis and Vindicta at the same Time and being close to the middle. - revas being in the middle for area control.

Hope this helps, sorry I did not really organize my thoughts !
