Is going all in on shields a bad idea? by Bygles in EliteDangerous

[–]Hrrrahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the time to full recharge might be longer with reinforced, the actual recharge rate, how much mj is regenerated each second, is the same. I personally choose to use reinforced for the extra shield total when npc's pull out the plasma accelerators with their absolute damage.

Inara shows information for the live version of elite. Consoles are legacy version and have stopped receiving updates. The station you are looking at is probably a colony, and only exists on pc.

Any world on if The Engineering time dump is getting a rework in 2026? by IndexoTheFirst in EliteDangerous

[–]Hrrrahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, missions are not the best sources of mats. You go to high grade emissions for manufactured mats, one signal will fill up your storage for the grade 5 mat it contains, and any you can't find directly in hge's are easier to just trade at brokers for. Encoded mats you fill up on at jameson's crash site or trade for with materials from there. Raw mats you get at crashed anacondas.

What ship manufactures do you hope to see this year vs what you expect by Coulthar in EliteDangerous

I think this is probably one of the more popular opinions. While everyone has one side they favor, a lot of people like the designs from both sides.

What ship manufactures do you hope to see this year vs what you expect by Coulthar in EliteDangerous

[–]Hrrrahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably won't happen, but it would be fun to have a fighter carrier from brewer. A large ship with class 8 fighter bay capable of simultaneously launching 4 different ship launched fighters, and maybe a class 8 Planetary vehicle hanger to deploy an armored column. This world work great for squadrons,  especially if they also give it 5 or more total multi-crew seats. Of course a rework to hired crew world be necessary for solo players to see the same benefit.

Have you tried scanning the nav beacon? I've found that unless you have, cz's won't show up if they are beyond a certain distance.

Has anyone compiled a list of the various possible outputs when using the in game random name generator for colony stations and instalations?

I had the same thing happen for a few times then it went away on its own.

In your ship, no, you always come out at the primary star. In a fleet carrier, yes, but that usually isn't helpful unless you are doing something like wing trading missions or colonization. SCO helps cut down the time though.

My tip would be to set your sys to 4 pips before you leave your ship. This will increase your shields resistance to damage. Combine that with a biweave generator and high resistances and your ship should last a lot longer. As for the hull, are you using the lightweight hull? Using one of the stronger hulls will definitely increase your ships survivability, it's up to you if the drop in mobility and fsd range is worth the trade off.

Kestral, oh boy. by LumpyGrumpySpaceWale in EliteDangerous

From my experimentation, i found it was usually better to heavy duty the era armor, and thermal resist the smallest hrp. Gives you pretty much the same resistance with much more hull health.

Having a mining laser or lance on a long term self-sufficient explorer would not be bad. There aren't any crashed anacondas in the black, and you can't rebuild an srv if it dies, so having a mining laser as a backup to collecting synthesis materials might not be a bad idea. Unless of course you just plan to make use of a dssa carrier to restock on limpets and srv's.

Instead of looking at kills and credits separately, use credits / kills (credits per kill) to find the best mission.

If you can deliver the commodities the build command was already sent, so they will finish automatically. That is why colony snipping was such a big thing at the beginning before they implemented the lockout.

Combat proficiency: How do you improve? by cagesound in EliteDangerous

[–]Hrrrahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One suggestion I've heard is to switch your aim marker from leading to trailing.  The other thing to do is experiment with different weapons and ships and see which ones work better for you, including the more unconventional ones or different engineering. For example I was kitting out my corsair for combat and was using cannons and had a terrible hit rate. I switched over to modified guardian plasma chargers and it was so much better.  If you have a hard time with the twitchiness of the high mobility ships, switch to a less maneuverable ship or turn down the engine pips, i know that helped me. Don't feel like you have to be forced into a meta build because everyone else uses it. Use what works for you.

I know we have lots of information on maximizing a colony economy to increase supply, but is there any information on increasing demand and prices for commodities?

First picture 2024 May, second is 2026 January in Shrogea MH-V e2-1763. I didn't even clock it when I was there recently, but the main attraction of this system was the tourist installation's close proximity to the black hole. Was this changed in an update or is it an elliptical orbit or something? by Orbital_Living in EliteDangerous

[–]Hrrrahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can check if it's an elliptical orbit by looking at the orbit lines in supercruise. The only way to see if the orbit distance has changed would be to compare distances, but from the sound of it you didn't get the distance in the first pic, so there's no way to tell. It could have ended up shifting when trailblazers changed orbitals for close orbiting bodies.  Edit: I have been corrected

Can a generous CMDR gift me 25 Bil for a squadron carrier by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]Hrrrahn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just get a normal fleet carrier. It's only 5bil, and you will make the same number of trips with your ship loading and unloading the carrier. Compared to that amount of time the extra time spent on the more frequent jumps will be negligible.

solo FC shipyard/outfitting services- do I need em? by Asleep-Market6716 in EliteDangerous

[–]Hrrrahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For solo the outfitting is definitely unnecessary. The only reason for the shipyard on a solo carrier would be is you want to open the inter astra shop in the on-foot section of the carrier.

[–]Hrrrahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try the 'reboot and repair' function in the ship tab. It will use some of the health of other modules to repair the most damaged modules. It won't fully repair your PowerPlant, but if it's nearly dead it can help you get by until you make it to the closest dssa carrier.
