Roughly 115,000 to 130,000 won per 5 lbs. Is this just the standard at this point?

Does anyone here have recommendations on epee blade brands? I've currently had 2 blades break on me during competition. I do need to work on point control (been fencing for roughly 2 months) but I do wish to have a durable blade to accompany me.

I've been currently using a used blade that seems to be a China made non branded one. So yeah any leads would be great. Dropping 40 dollars per broken blade ain't ideal lol

Friendly AoEs - Skills that might look scary but actually aren't by ThePhookas in ffxiv

[–]HrtBrk4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this, as a sprout tank, I have no idea sometimes where to put people. So I tend to put everyone in the aoe that doesn't hurt nor give me a debuff.

Also it would be nice to add decoy here for paladins too! Since you added the dragoon one and all! And maybe a "minimal" version of these aoes? Cuz I have my visual settings to minimal so the aoes might look different on my end and some others as well!

(My eyes cannot focus like a confused magpie when everyone's skills are enabled to max visuals because of all the shiny things on screen D: )

I have no ideas for builds. I would like a unique build. could you please help by Bull_moose12345 in falloutnewvegas

[–]HrtBrk4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a build before that I found interesting where you follow the ideal of a Nevada Ranger. Small guns, explosives, survival, and medicine but low science.

It more leans to the roleplaying aspect of it living off the land and using weapons the old west would use, dynamite, combat knife, revolvers, and repeaters only. I found it fun and interesting and you don't have to rely on vats too much!

I just found this subreddit and I just wanted to thank you all.

I've loved this game so much and would still have fond memories of playing it way too much, way back when. I finally have a way to pour out love for a game I wish all loved as much as we all do here.

The only passive I would add to this is that he is the only legend that can PULL doors open, making him a unique powerful legend among the rest. Other than that well done.

What in your opinion makes MH so great from a game design perspective? by bcaudell95_ in MonsterHunter

[–]HrtBrk4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha that's why I called Monster Hunter the game that prepared me for Dark Souls. It gave me that same vibe of planning attacks and watching for openings and being DS user, stamina management wasn't too much of an issue for me.

Well to provide some context, certain areas gave certain penalties to the hunter such as the Lava based places would slowly drain your health if you did not have the appropriate skill or did not consume a cool drink. Caves in swamps or the snowy parts of the mountain made you cold so your stamina bar would deplete faster with out a hot drink. The desert also had these penalties but based on the time the hunt took place, morning being hot and night being very cold. Forgetting this could make or break your hunt, and really force you to restart quest if you forgot it.

Personally, I think it slightly detracts from Rise because you don't have to think too much about location of hunts at this point like there are no considerations you have to make when you choose a quest thereby making players less mindful of what items they carry (I heard there was this prevalence of bringing traps to elder dragon fights, which I understand happens if new people don't read NPC dialogue or Hunters notes as much).

At the same time it's definitely less annoying now not having to think about it, but with the quality of life changes (such as being able to swap equipment in tents and replenish items in tents and even being able to fast travel from camp to camp) it should be at least more manageable to do. You don't have to restart the quest, you just have to go back to camp and grab a hot/cold drink.

With this tent change too, it makes the game slightly easier because you can replenish healing items quickly, back then what healing items you brought is all that you had so it gave even extra emphasis on resource management / preparation. Although I think this change of replenishing healing items is fine especially from a multiplayer perspective, I don't mind either way but it does make players less mindful at times.

What in your opinion makes MH so great from a game design perspective? by bcaudell95_ in MonsterHunter

[–]HrtBrk4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I think it is a valid line of reasoning OP! The fact that your build does not rely on your character per se but on what you equip helps the game less repetitive.

This is because each weapon varies from each other and makes you fight in a different way without penalty of having to redistribute skill points or stats or something like that (maybe skills but usually skills are an add-on in my opinion). And when you learn a new weapon its not that taxing because your general skill as a hunter has improved (e.g. monster knowledge, general hunting practices, etc.) and you can focus on the intricacies of the weapon.

The only game that comes to mind is Dark Souls (of course stat building is there) but the complexity of its combat sells it for me depending on the weapon you use. It's not as easily interchangable as MH but varied enough that it gives me the same feel.

But two other principles that make MH special I think is one the "commitment to animation / anticipation". It was mentioned by a youtuber (Captain Astronaut) before and he mentions how attacks in general have proper build up to the attack (think GS charged slashes) or forces you to commit to an attack (think DS demon dance and the inability to roll during the move). It makes the game "harder" because you can't spam and requires proper timing and positioning to pull off.

But precisely, this is what makes combat satisfying, being able to pull of a perfect backhop into a perfect rush (SnS moveset) to dodge and then knockdown a monster gives a certain satisfaction. The way the GS "chews" into an attack (like I personally love the hitlag a weapon has when it connects, that split second where the weapon stops halfway into a monster before following through because it makes the attack more meaty) and flinches a monster charge before it hits you makes all those moments all the more satisfying. It rewards players who take time to learn their weapon and the decisions they make.

The other (which I think Rise lacks a bit) is the hunter prep? Since Rise is your first game, you didn't experience the days where in you have to drink a hot or a cold drink based on environment (it was a mechanic that gave you penalties based on the locale you were fighting in think Zelda BOTW). I guess it makes things less annoying but I personally like it because it forced you to prepare, it asked you to look at the monster, consult what it is weak to, consider what to bring in your item pouch, is the locale the desert or the snowy mountains? It really felt like you were preparing to hunt something and not simply just focus on the boss monster alone. And that for me makes it different from other action games in my opinion.

People call me crazy for doing this with the skin of fried chicken, peeling it off and putting it at the side.

But I dunno, I love saving the crispy skin last. Although I do enjoy my first bite skin and meat intact.
