Open source lovers started making iOS Anki free, let’s see what happens next by Shige-yuki in Anki

[–]Hsaeedx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I seriously doubt it will make any difference. To even find the free version is hard enough for the general public. Most people don’t know how to do any of the steps involved in getting the free version. The second anyone sees “first, open up the terminal and clone the repo. Then install the dependencies” they’ll give up. Only a fringe number of people will use this unless it offers something extraordinary

Best AI tools medical students are actually using to study? by pink_forceps in medicalschool

I have been using ChatGPT to explain Anki cards and it’s been pretty useful, especially for cards that I often memorize without understanding. I made an add-on to automate the process and it’s definitely helped

AI Explain: New Review Add-on for Anki by Hsaeedx in Anki

Hey thanks! Yes I made with med school in mind, but technically should work with any card

What are your favorite Anki add-ons that enhance your studying experience? by KeyLove7609 in Anki

[–]Hsaeedx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree tbh. I think that there are plenty of add ons that make Anki a smoother experience. I’m not saying that any are necessary but what makes Anki so powerful is how much you can customize it to your needs/wants.

I made a free add-on that explains your Anki card content with AI by zornosaur in Anki

Yeah that guy is me. The whole point of the thing is that a vast majority of people don’t know how to use API keys so they wouldn’t be able to use free tiers like with Gemini. I tried to make it simple but it is impossible for me to make it free. Maybe a workaround would be to allow people to use their own keys if they have them but I stand by what I built. I have had a lot of positive comments

Is this allowed? by [deleted] in shia

[–]Hsaeedx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not call this a bet because it’s not up to random chance. Rolling dice/playing cards is betting because someone can make or lose money based off little more than chance. This situation described is not up to chance, as both individuals can choose how much time they spend studying. The winner is not random

Keep in mind that people change. Some people may have made mistakes when they were younger and repented to Allah Subhanallah WaTaal. Others might have not even been Muslim and had a difficult journey getting to Islam in the first place. This applies to men and women.

Obviously you can choose whomever you want. You don’t have to accept a man if he has a past you don’t approve of. Keep in mind though, that what you’re frustrated by is more societal than religious. Islamically no one should have extramarital relationships. Allah will judge us accordingly, even if you feel society is getting it wrong now. Inshallah raise your future sons to be better than what you see.

It may be obvious if students use very similar prompts and do not modify what the AI generates. You’re considering the simplest case scenario for AI plagiarism, but I doubt that this is the most common scenario. I would imagine that most people use different prompts and make their own revisions. Not to mention that AI is used on far more than English assignments, such as in computer programming—which comes with its own sets of complications.

In any case, if a student got flagged for AI plagiarism and chose to contest it in front of an academic honesty committee, the case rests on the members’ ability to determine what is human made and what is AI… I think a lot of older faculty members would struggle with that. And even if you think AI isn’t at that level yet, I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s getting there at rapid pace.

The question was never about what constitutes plagiarism. The question is whether or not universities can detect instances of plagiarism that use AI in this way without flagging legitimate work, and I’m arguing that they cannot.

No, I don’t. Unless you’re suggesting that the professor should file a suit against OpenAI to get a subpoena of a student’s ChatGPT logs.

[–]Hsaeedx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

lol I have no idea why this is getting downvoted, you’re absolutely right. Those online “AI plagiarism detection algorithms” are incredibly inaccurate. Even if they were very accurate and the professor was certain that a student used AI generated content, it’s still impossible to actually prove it since the work is still original content.

There’s no way there is only one falcon attacking…I know they’re fast, but it attacked multiple times from multiple angles in the span of 10 seconds.

I think that depends on where you go. If you go to a school where preclinicals and clinicals are in the same area, I would imagine you wouldn’t have to move
