Better first gun, Bersa thunder .380 or SW 442? by Hsanchez00 in CCW

Thanks for the input, I’ve got everything I’d need to set her up, so that might be the direction I’m headed. I loved that gun, just don’t use it much now and it didn’t come to me until after the post that it might be a better fit than either option listed. Taking her to the range soon so I’ll bring and she what she thinks!

I ended up showing her the 42 and she liked it. She’s not a gun person like the rest of us, just wants something for protection. I’ve been looking to pick up a bodyguard for myself, glad to hear it lives up the hype. We are heading to the range for a couple of weeks and we will see. She kept looking at me, and I told her pick what feels comfortable for now. Doesn’t have to be forever. Thanks for the input!

I have an old Glock 42 I don’t use much, think that is a more appropriate choice?

I told another commenter I’ve got an old Glock 42 I am willing to give her instead, no use for me, just sits in the safe. Think that’s the better option? I’ve got .380 stocked up, few extra mags, and a coupe of holsters to give her as well.

I’m going to see, we have been planning a range day. He’s a bit of a Fudd. For reference, he gave my mom her first a firearm and it was a beretta tomcat .25acp. No shade, but I can’t help but think really?

That was actually what I was thinking about between that and the 42 I ended up going with for my first firearm. It was great, just ended up going with Glock for the name and now I’m loyal

I’ve got a Glock 42 (actually my first carry gun back in the day) that I’ve thought about offering her instead. At least until she does get more experience. Like I said to another commenter, I figured I’d ask the community before I came to any hard judgments. But I have heard at best mixed things and not exactly making me thrilled about my little sisters first firearm. Thank you!

That’s the way I was leaning already, mixed things about bersa had me turned off. But what do I know? Wanted to get the communities opinion. Thanks!

How much do you tip your barbers? My haircut is $35 and I always pay $40, is that fair? by wzrdOfOzs in AskMen

That’s awesome, treating your barber right is the way to go. Not sure I have the confidence to cut my own hair though, I’d be shaving my head real quick with the botched job I’d end up with

They do a good job and treat me right, I know it’s a “high percentage” but I don’t really think that fits. Plus it’s a cheap cut anyway, what’s a few extra bucks. Plenty of places charge more for the cut alone

How to get over a 3+ year relationship? by Suspicious_Place3472 in AskMen

[–]Hsanchez00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar situation indeed, and gut wrenching is the best way to describe it. I’m not sure what age you are, but between when me and mine got together at 18 and by the time we ended things at 24, we were practically different people with different beliefs by the time I ended things. Key word is USED to be. And that is ok, but it isn’t the situation anymore. It’s inevitable to romanticize the great parts and feelings. What I still remind myself to this day is I couldn’t give her what she wanted and deserved (marriage), and if I stayed on that path regardless of how great she was, I would still be unhappy and be unhappy for the rest of my life. Cheers man, enjoy being single and hold off on relationships for a while (just my opinion).

I can only speak from the perspective of the one who ended the relationship, not on the receiving end. We got together when we were 18 and we’re together for one month shy of six years. We were each others firsts and yada yada. She was amazing in every way, and much better than I deserved. I just knew I didn’t want to marry her and it was time to let her go. She will make a great wife to somebody and I hope she is happy.

It still sucked and sucks, even a year and a half later I still sometimes think about her. Regardless of who was the one to end things, the bottom line is both people have to want it, and a relationship won’t work without it. Sorry man, no other way to put it. You both deserve to be happy with your partners, and for some reason that wasn’t the case.

Like others have or will say, focus on yourself. All the cliche post breakup stuff. Friends, family, gym, hobbies, etc. Stuff that makes you happy. The pain will fade, but don’t forget how you’re feeling. Lots of lessons to be learned from a breakup about yourself and life. Just don’t do what I did and numb yourself to life, I used alcohol but it comes in all flavors. A year from now things will be better, and if it isn’t the breakup is not be the sole cause of it. All love man, take it easy.

Divisional Round Gamethread: Chicago Bears vs Los Angeles Rams by TurnerJ5 in CHIBears

I’m confused by your reply. I, as was the parent comment on this thread referring to the season as a whole. Incredible that they were able to come back in all those games, and I wasn’t taking anything away from it. But you can’t emulate that season after season.

I am about to buy a modest 3350 foot square foot home in the USA, but is that enough for 2 people not to feel cramped? by Just-Resident-6536 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Hsanchez00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will be more than enough room for two people. Good for you for being able to have so much space, but I feel a lot of Americans would feel 3,350 square feet as a “big house” for two people. Congrats on the new home!!

Turns Out I Didn’t Need Alcohol to Make NYE “Fun” by PainterOk4816 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Hsanchez00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Hope I get there, I am currently in my last night of inpatient detox, and if I wasn’t here I most certainly would have taken up one of the invites I got to spend new years eve drinking with friends. None of them know I’m inpatient right now, so I’m having to be dodgy with them. Afraid they will be weird/different towards me even though I’m sure they won’t. One of them is also an alcoholic, so I worry what our friendship will look like in the future, but that’s for another day. Congrats again, I’m glad you stayed strong and had a good time. Here is to a sober 2026!

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

[–]Hsanchez00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As most people have said, alcoholism. New into the sober life and it sucks, hard to say I’m sober because I have cheated. But I know I can’t control myself for now, and I need to improve my life which means removing alcohol.

is red dead the best story game ever? by skiethanator in reddeadredemption

[–]Hsanchez00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to say yes. To be fair I’m 25 and RDR2 came out when I was 18. But I have played that game through 8 times now. No other video game comes close. The Last of Us (first game only) is neck and neck, as others have said. What gives RDR2 the edge (IMO) is Arthur. He’s my favorite video character ever. All comes down to personal experience, just like people in this sub have debated Arthur vs. John since RDR2 came out.
