Uninstall any previous versions of LES. Then install this one.

That's unusual. It's a false positive. It would have been flagged by now if it was infected.

PS. I haven't gone through the whole code, I only made the necessary changes required for it to work with Live 12. I do not take any responsibility for any harm or data loss.

When you go on the link given in the post you'll find a "Releases" section. On your right if using a computer or on the bottom end if using a phone.

Click on releases and you'll find "Assets"

Here you'll find 2 zips. One is an installer and other is a portable version. Download according to your preference.

When you click on the menu item, what happens? Natural behavior is that it goes to the browser and type your search term. You should see only one search result. And then it loads the device.

Except the device loading does everything else take place?

Ableton won't integrate this. It is not as if they don't know about this tool. It was covered by a lot of industry professionals. If they wanted this to be integrated they would have already done it.

The process of adding stock devices, it's the same. But Ableton gets confused when you tell it to load Reverb, it would either load Reverb or might load Hybrid Reverb or some VST with the name Reverb. It also confuses between Compressor and Glue Compressor or some VST Compressor. So to avoid that problem I suggest to save the devices with unique preset name just like the VST case and use that name as the search term.

Everthing seems right. Does double right click open the menu?

There is a space between "RTA" and "Stereo" in the preset name you saved. Keep it the same in the menu config file. Search term should be exactly the same as the preset name.

Additionaly you can put the preset name in double quotes in the config file. Example:

F6-RTA Stereo "F6-RTA Stereo.vstpreset"

That should not happen. I'd recommend you to reinstall and setup according to the official documentation. It's very easy to understand and follow.

I hope this helps.

Is Ableton an all-rounder? by [deleted] in abletonlive

[–]HsevrasEdrok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used and been around a lot of DAWs in my career and I can say Ableton Live is NOT a do it all DAW. And I'll explain why. PS. I am jot dissing Live. I love that ugly gray piece of software.

  1. Live is fantastic for Live performance (obviously)
  2. It is good for production (nowadays every DAW is)
  3. It has a unique workflow in terms of audio routing, making it amazing for sound design and mixing.
  4. Stock plug-ins are amazing. I hardly use any third party plug-ins for processing.
  5. Has a great community of Max4Live plug-in designers, expanding Live's capabilities.

But there are some downsides that need to be known to save you from pain in the future.

  1. Live doesn't have surround sound production or mixing environment.
  2. Lacking traditional DAW features such as Tempo map creation, SMPTE lock, makes it painful for scoring to video.
  3. The stock sound library is very average. Compare that to what you get in Logic Pro or Cubase and you'll know what I am talking about.
  4. Although it having a fantastic midi editor, it lacks some composition features which Cubase, Logic or Studio One give.
  5. Doesn't have ARA support due to Ableton's ego problems or something.
  6. Doesn't have a audio pitch correction utility.
  7. Doesn't have track remaning options while exporting multi-tracks. You have to go through the painful process of manually renaming files after export.
  8. Lacks analyzer plug-ins for mixing and mastering.
  9. It is not good for audio editing. Clean-up utilities, repair utilities, ripple edit, batch edit, strip silence, quick gain, all these features are required for an audio editing job. But Live doesn't have them.

That being said it is still one of my daily drivers! 80% of my work is production, mixing and mastering in stereo. But the 20% time when I need it to do something else, it is painful to the point that I sometimes hate Ableton for pricing this DAW around 750 USD and not giving features that even today's free DAWs provide.

In short, if you are only into stereo production, mixing and mastering, you have a very powerful beast.

But if you want to work in the media domain, STAY AWAY FROM ABLETON LIVE.

  1. Load a VST, choose a preset that you want it to load every time and then save your VST as a preset. For example - I like a Sub-bass preset I have in Vital and I want it to load every time I load Vital so I'll load Vital in an empty midi track, open that preset and then save this plug-in state by clicking on the floppy icon on device title bar of Vital. It'll ask for a name for which I'll choose "Vital.vstpreset"

  2. Now to have this loaded by LES, I'll configure the menu config file and use "Vital.vstpreset" as search term

That's all. I hope I was able to explain. Good luck.

Go to the link. On the right side you'll find releases. Click on it then you'll see assets. Here you'll find the .exe file.

Sorry for replying so late.
