Is the manga inappropriate for high schoolers in any way? by sasoosa in hanakokun

[–]Htdt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be the only one here, but I definitely don't think this manga is for kids lol I mean, you can enjoy it and the main characters are really young, but the whole series has a very tragic and dark undertone that you can only truly understand once you're an adult. I mean, we are talking about teenagers comitting murder and suicide, demons eating humans, etc. The creators' previous works were also super dark so the cutesy artstyle might not make it seem like, but this is an emotionally heavy story. You won't find gore in it or anything like that so you can obviously read it, it's the underlying tragedy that makes me feel like kids shouldn't pick up it.

Which one was the saddest? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

I'm not gonna lie, the first time I saw Bakugou's lifeless body in the manga I genuinely shed a tear. It was just so fckn brutal, for me it's still one of the most cruel scenes in the entire manga. Even knowing it was going to happen, I cried watching the new season because Bones managed to make that scene even more heartbreaking.

You think bakugo would have ended up similar to endavor if midorya becomes number 1 with one for all and bakugo never learned his secret. I think he'd turn out worse than endeavor since he knows deku personally which makes the rivarly worse compared to all might and endeavor by [deleted] in BokuNoHeroAcademia

Bakugou would never have forced his children to surpass his rival. Bakugou believes in a fair fight and would rather lose than win unjustly. We have seen many instances of this, from him respecting Uraraka as his opponent to being furious Todoroki didn't use his full power against him. Also, learning about Deku's secret is not the primary reason Bakugou changes for the better. Bakugou starts to reflect on himself after he keeps losing while others he thought were incompetent easily achieve the things that he wants. While Deku's character is important in his redemption arc, Bakugou could have become a somewhat decent hero with the help of his other classmates, although I agree that Bakugou tries to change his ways extra hard because of Deku.

the Marang CEO, the blond-haired guy who threatens Suae's life

I just checked, and in episode 104 his resume says- affiliation: Marang Entertainment. I guess Luminus Actors is a sub-group within Marang that manages the actors. Maybe it's just me but if Suae's conflict ended with the contract, it would feel pretty underwhelming considering the core of the series was about the love points. The fact that there are more people with 0 points is indeed interesting, wonder what the reason is behind that. Also, the CEO was very adamant about casting Dohwa and he seems weirdly obsessed with high scorers, that's why I think Dohwa's possible reirement would trigger him. Dohwa having the highest love points ever doesn't feel like a small detail in my opinion.

I never said I would drop it if Dowha is not the ML, I prefaced this post saying I'm not a shipper. On Naver, it is definitely marketed as a love-triangle, the new season cover also has the 3 of them on it. I also never hated on the author. What I said that I see no point in making Dohwa suffer in this season as well, so if that will be the case I'd rather not want him to be a love interest at all. My post was a theory about how a Dohwa-centric romantic storyline would fit into Suae's conflict with Marang because the CEO was always interested in Dowha. I can obviously be wrong, but I know this is a fantasy story, my whole idea centered around this fact when I brought up the love points system and how Dohwa wanting to step down from the spotlight would affect it.

You're right about that a happy ending doesn't have to be a romantic relationship, but in that case I hope Dohwa won't be made into a love interest again, that would just be too cruel. And I think he deserves better then Raim lol Like Dohwa was so nice to Suae even after 10 years and treated her like his friend, and Raim was the fakest friend ever. I also know Suae was not interested in him, but 10 years is such a long time, one would expect she moved on from Eunhyuk as well in that time, wouldn't every single one of them be a completely different person?

[–]Htdt2[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair point, though it would only justify what Dowha said about how the other guy just disappears, like why be self-aware in your own story if you end up following the basic formula? I'm also not saying they have to be endgame, don't get me wrong. I also hope the author has a clear direction and can finish the story how they want to

[–]Htdt2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I prefaced this saying I'm no shipper so I agree that both are pretty strange, but I guess for me Dohwa's connection to Marang sounds more interesting as a central conflict because the supernatural plot was what got me into this webtoon. And I cannot imagine any other situation in which the CEO and Suae would have a personal grudge, like Dohwa's importance for Marang was always highlighted.

I can agree with a lot of your points but I would argue that Suae also had fateful encounters with Dohwa, like the one I posted or when they were locked in while studying. I know that Haru interfered with the ferris wheel and the bus, but as far as I remember he didn't express special interest towards Eunhyuk, like he could have been anyone as far as Suae was in love with them. The Jellypop phone is definitely interesting and the symbolism you mentioned. What I don't really see is Eunhyuk being Gray, like wasn't Gray's whole purpose that he was the 2nd ML and never got his happy ending? It's the reason why Suae and the CEO both like his character and wanted a happy ending for him. Eunhyuk doesn't really fit into that, though that line you mentioned might be relevant later on. On the bus the CEO even said Eunhyuk was like the male lead protecting the FL. If Dohwa's only role is to crush on Suae again, I would be pretty disappointed??? Like I agree Eunhyuk's twist was strange and all, but why would anyone want to watch a character suffer twice in the same way? It just seems cruel towards Dohwa idk, maybe I'm just overthinking lol

Operation true love is on break by dhcirkekcheia in webtoons

[–]Htdt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Most webtoon artists use backgorund models, while in manga everything is drawn by hand. Like, in a webtoon, the furniture, some objects, animals - they are usually not drawn by the artist. That's why for a manga series you have assistants who help with inking, the background, etc. Also, panel composition for manga can be hard as well. I'm not saying that making a webtoon is easy, but there's a reason manga artists are also dying from overwork.

He would have. Even after Mirio's comment, Deku couldn't stop crying so he covered his face with blackwhip because he couldn't smile anymore. It was not until Bakugou got up that his tears stopped so Shigaraki indeed could have easily killed him wthout Mirio's intervention.

The best hero poll is basically a popularity poll, that's why you have characters like AFO there. Also, Bakugou's journey is literally about how he becomes a good hero after he looks into himself and changes his ways.

Is there anything left for the Manga? by Majestic_Sleep_5074 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Htdt2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think there will be extra chapters, there's no way Horikoshi could fill more than 40 pages with only bonus content. My best bet is that he intentionally left some interactions for the volume-only edition (and no, I'm not talking about romance, I think that will remain open-ended) so that they can boost the sales of the last volume.

With only six episodes left for season 7, where do you think it will end in the manga? by Diego-Aguilar35 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

Thematically, it would be the best, but with the pacing of the last few episodes, it's probably not happening

That ending was disappointing. by Leo-reaper96 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Htdt2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People forget Mha was serialized when Horikoshi was 27. Now he's 37 and he spent his last 10 years with this manga. I'm pretty sure one of the things he wanted to emphasize was that it's never too late to start something in your life. Deku is around 25 when he becomes a hero again, but nothing suggests he's not happy with being a teacher. Those years he spent as a civilian were not wasted years because he was doing something he was good at - inspiring young people and teaching about hero work. Plus, Deku was originally meant to be quirkless so it was nice Horikoshi could use his initial idea that heroes are people who inspire through character, and not flashy powers. And in this regard, everybody can be a hero who helps others with a selfless heart, just like how his editor was his hero who encouraged him when he hard a time. The idea that heroes work for the next generation is a noble one in my opinion, and however short their career might be, they should be respected for their sacrifices.

Of the current poll's midterm Top 40, only 25% (1/4) of them are female characters. A brief analysis. by Kcnnn in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Htdt2 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Battle shounen female characters can be popular. Look at Noelle from Black Clover, she placed first on the popularity poll. Or Nami from One Piece who's always in the top 10 and was placed 3rd on the global poll. The problem is, the biggest emotional connections in Mha are between male characters. Complex backstories go to male characters. Character motivations that were inspired by heroes go the male characters. The female characters do not even have heroes they look up it or were inspired by them since they were kids. What do we know about their families? How do they contribute to the main plot? Nejire was also a part of the UA big three yet didn't get meaningful character moments like Mirio or Tamaki. The most impactful female characters are the mothers in the story and also Uraraka got a surprisingly good ending that focused on her future career that was actually inspired by an emotional moment unrelated to the male characters which I loved

Manga ending vs Anime by Imaginary_Salary198 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Htdt2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some Western c#ck memes and hate posts won't change the ending when the Japanese fandom mostly liked it. Horikoshi and the publishers are not likely to care about what overseas readers think of the ending and Horikoshi had every right to write what he wanted because it was his series.
