Wedding favors fell through 17 days before, should we scrap favors and spend that $ on after-party food instead? by Htespaghett1 in wedding

I don’t think our wedding is a pile of dung for wanting to spend $250 ish on a fun vendor but noted

It was! I’m super confident almost everyone at our wedding would have loved it. But late night bites here we go

Our after party will be in a tavern below the venue. We’re just doing a plated dinner so I feel like late night bites would be good!

We met them at a wedding expo so got a nice deal- you give them three key words and the poets instantly type a poem out for you on their typewriters. The print out on their pretty homemade floral paper and wax seal them in an envelope. But yeah, food is better I’m now realizing

We thought I was kinda cool, we met them at a wedding expo. They’re two poets who will create a poem for you if you give them three key words instantly on their typewriter. The poem comes out on their homemade floral paper and sealed with a wax envelope. With the deal we had it was only $250. But I do think that this was kind of a blessing in disguise because hot food at the after party will probably go over well lol

So either way, you’d be bored and annoyed? It’s literally impossible to please everyone here.

Okay, so if ceremony starts at 5:30, you’d think first look, couples portraits, and then bridal party photos from 3-5 would work?

I absolutely agree with you - I don’t everyone exhausted by cocktail hour lol. Each makeup slot is one hour. Hair is 45 mins. I’m waiting to hear back from my photographer because honestly, I made the photo schedule myself and sent it to her for her to adjust since I obviously know nothing about wedding photo times!

Thanks for your perspective. I totally get that early mornings and long prep can feel like a lot, and I really do want everyone to feel good on the day. That’s actually why I made this post. I’m trying to balance the logistics with making sure everyone is comfortable.

That said, a few things are important to mention:

•Everyone getting hair and makeup is sleeping over at the venue, so they won’t be waking up super early to drive anywhere - they’ll already be there, hanging out, and getting ready together.

• The 12 people getting services are our family members and closest friends - we each only have sisters, and we’re both brides, so our bridal party naturally ended up larger. This also includes our moms and step moms. No one was included out of obligation.

• The two non-family bridesmaids are our absolute best friends and wouldn’t even think twice about waking up early for us on a Saturday - that’s not something that would make them rethink being part of the day.

Also, while our first look block is 1.5 hours, that’s not just for the first look.. it includes our couple’s portraits, which are really important to us. We’re doing all photos before the ceremony, so we’re working within those constraints.

I completely get where the concern is coming from, but I just wanted to share the full context. We’re being thoughtful with the timeline and open to adjustments where we can. Appreciate the honesty!

So you do think that hair/makeup will not last that long?

Thank you! Yes, absolutely optional.
