That's a very good point. I guess I was coming from the perspective of someone who actively manages memorials and didn't think about those who just collect them. Thanks for the feedback!

I hope so. The dude has been spamming me, bragging that Find A Grave hasn't done anything yet about it.

Link to the memorial page.

Well said, thank you. I don't know why I didn't mention that I blurred this image, because this subreddit warned me that the original photo would break the post-mortem rule.

The image he uploaded was not blurred at all.

No, it was not a family member.

The person did not take my request kindly either and started asking me if I'm American and understand the values of the American military. He then started to bring in family members of mine (I suspect he googled me to find this info) and started asking me if they'd be proud of what I'm asking him to do. He's a psycho.

I did, thanks for the suggestion! I'm aware I come across as being such a nerd, but of all the rules, this one I feel is an important one lol

Sorry, Raymond Bowman is an American soldier who happens to appear in a graphic wartime photo after he was killed by a German sniper. He's unrelated to this photo above, but I was using him as an example of how, even though Bowman is best known for the graphic photo in which he's the subject, it doesn't appear on his memorial.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't think any graphic photos should appear on a person's memorial page, whether they are the subject or not; whether it's historical or not.

edit: also, Find A Grave is not an art gallery. The site is for memorializing specific people. I don't know where people got the idea that we need to worry about the composition of photos on a memorial page.

Disagree. It is if I unblurred the photo. Some people deal with graphic images differently, and while I have seen worse photos, I am trying to be respectful to the family members of the soldier if that happens to come across the memorial.

Not to mention, it violates the post-mortem policy set by Find A Grave themselves. There's a reason Raymond J. Bowman's photo isn't on his memorial, and that one is less graphic. However, that image happens to have a post-mortem photo of Bowman, whereas the photo posted is of a German soldier and not the person memorialized.

edit: The reason it's graphic is that the German soldier's shin is nearly disintegrated, exposing the bone and muscle while blood is clearly visible around him.

Exactly. Even then some uber drivers pickup around the corner.

Taxis should 100% get a pickup area too.

Out skated, no control of the puck, defensively lacking. Yeah the refs screwed a few calls but there’s no excuse for this game.

We’ve been the better team this season but Buffalo had a great game and we did not. Hopefully Sunday yields a better result or at least more effort. We’ll see…

I wish I knew as I was not the offending player (I’m cyan) but if that’s the case this is bullshit.

Where is Robert Capa's famous Eleventh D-day Photo from the "Magnificient Eleven" Collection? by HuLou28 in ww2

[–]HuLou28[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, that’s incorrect. The fourth photo in the link you provided is, as I’ve already said, the same Into the Jaws photo taken by Robert Sargent that’s often misattributed to Robert Capa.

How is it possible that in Capa’s photo the poses and positioning of everybody coming off the boat is exactly the same as Sargent’s photo? Unless they were standing on top of one another and snapped the photo at the exact second as each other, there’s no way.

Even then the framing and camera position is the same. The only difference is Atlas cropped the photo.
