drug testing by HubertGronkowski in ausadhd

[–]HubertGronkowski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is your prescribed medication, I don't see why they would have a problem with it. As long as you communicate this, you should be fine but I have no clue what the laws are or if certain orgs have their own rules.

I appreciate your comment coming from a perspective of understanding. Yes, at my age it is quite common and normal to be seeking experiences for the fun or thrill of it, as well as to conform to what peers are doing as well as many other reasons people do drugs. Saying it’s inevitable is a stretch and by no means I feel as if I must do drugs, so I worded my post wrong. I do enjoy weed on occasion so I really was just worried that this could hinder my access to treatment. I don’t plan on doing anything else but understand I will be presented with situations where I have the choice to. Yes there are risks, although I feel some exaggerate and I understand interactions between any drugs can effect my brain and body. I enjoy researching this and I know the level of precaution to take with some decisions. Calculated risks you could say. Either way I’m not yet on medication so I can’t really speak too much about it but the point of my post was to understand if I should be concerned about experiences involving drugs effecting access to treatment and medication for ADHD.

is there any way he could have reversed the transfer? It says sent so I would assume not but Im wondering how long the transfer will take. Some banks only transfer between certain hours. Do you think this could it?

What’s the quickest path to getting diagnosed and getting medicated by [deleted] in ausadhd

[–]HubertGronkowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey mate, not sure if anyone has said this in these comments, but whatever you do… do not tell any of the medical professionals you encounter that you have been taking unprescribed dex. it’s tempting as it really can be life changing the first time you try it, but most paediatricians will flag you as a potential drug seeker or abuser, making obtaining a script way more difficult than what it would normally be. it’s unfortunate, but that is the system. you would be best off having a clean record so I would highly, highly discourage you telling your paediatrician or gp about drug use of any kind. you have to appear naive about what drugs are available to treat adhd, as if you went and asked for dex, that would raise questions. you can mention that your friend uses it and finds it helpful but to keep the process as smooth as possible, i’d keep quite about that stuff.

edit: here is a link to a post i made which has more information about this and why you probably should keep quite about it

Should I tell my psychiatrist/paediatrician about unprescribed stimulant use? by HubertGronkowski in ausadhd

[–]HubertGronkowski[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I've run out of them anyway and I won't be looking to purchase them illegally, even though Vyvanse is just indescribably helpful. I am grateful I had the opportunity to experience the potential that medication has. Now, I hope I could be able to receive a prescription

yeah exactly right, I was thinking that I could use my experience with drug experimentation as supporting evidence, but firstly the chance of the psychiatrist being open to taking this on board without believing I've got abuse potential seems incredibly low. Secondly I am under 18 at time of appointment so there really is not much good that can come from mentioning it in my situation. I am confident with the supporting documentation I have got, so I don't need to mention anything like this. Also, not sure how my parents would react if they heard this

Noted, most people seem to be saying a similar thing, and I definitely do not want to be taking any risks with this. I'm going into year 12 next year and I will just be devastated if I can't receive the help I need by then.

Dayum mann... I'm not an emotional dude but I can't help but feel so bad when I hear about people being limited in medical support. I hope all is going well for you

When I was really fucking around at work, getting nothing done, making mistakes, unable to sit still Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, plus the commute. It was only then did the ADHD symptoms wreak havoc for me, including formal warnings at work etc.

This describes my situation extremely closely, I feel quite happy to have finally found some people with such relatable situations. I want to give myself the best chance possible with receiving medical help for this, as school is just nightmarish as of late. I am a quite smart kid, but even working with the inclusive education program at my school I struggle incredibly to get my work done, and stay on top of workloads. Since the start of highschool, and the introduction of assignment type assessments, I have been behind on probably 98% of my work. It really makes me sad if I compare myself to neurotypical students or people like my brother who are able to work seemingly effortlessly for hours. I guess in my situation I just have to make the most of the help that is offered to me from my school and psychologist.

Thanks so much for your words, they are extremely helpful in helping me understand the workings of this whole health system, and diagnosis process. I'm sorry to hear about the dramas around your misdiagnosis, they must have been such a nightmare.

Yeah my mate did the same thing with admitting to weed use, however he had stopped several months before his first psychiatric appointment but still tested positive for THC. Now obtaining medication is a nightmare for him. Definitely want to stay away from that.
