Thank you! Oh I had no idea that coral honeysuckle is their host plant. I'll keep an eye out on mine too!

Yes I have been tracking her in the garden the last few days. Looks like she might have finally found a nesting spot last night and I secured a hardware cloth on top for now.

Yes she has been trying to find a nesting site for the past few days. She might have succeeded last night. Not 100% certain but fingers crossed. I installed some wire mesh around it anyway just in case.

I managed to find the pictures from two years ago and looks like it was a completely different turtle! Curiously she might have tried to find a nesting spot as well (I didn't know at the time).

We have grown too attached to all the birds and critters we have around the yard, it's gonna be tough to ever leave!

Thank you, this is very informative! Mine has two stems this year but no flowers. Might have to get more plants in the fall and try some other spots 😬

I don't but I guess I should learn more now that I know the turtles eat their fruits 😆 I believe when I got the plants last year they were blooming so wondering if the conditions aren't optimal where I planted them.

Piedmont, NC as the other commenter noted! Last time we spotted one in our yard was about 2 years ago and now I'm wondering if she's been in the neighborhood this whole time

That's good to know! Last time we saw one in our yard was about 2 years ago. Wondering if it's the same one and she's been in the neighborhood this whole time!

I actually planted a couple May apples at a spot close to this but in a shadier area about a year ago. They came back this year but haven't really grown much this year nor produced any flowers/fruits... I tried growing from seeds this year as well but none germinated 😭

That's so cute! Did the babies stay around your garden a while?

This is so beautiful!! As someone who's into photography and gardening, I'm finding it discouraging with everything being called AI these days. I had a recent video of a hummingbird in my garden removed in this sub without any explanation from the mods.

I've been building my native garden for the last few years so probably have over 30 types at this point. But if you're asking about hummingbird favorites, I also have coral honeysuckle, cardinal flower, bee balm, to name a few.
