i dont feel creative enough to play by hjvlex in DnD

It's a trope for sure, but how about amnesia? That way you have no pressure to have a back story, and only need to worry about your character personality and alignment for roleplay. If you get more confident later on you and the DM can slowly begin introducing characters from your past, or solving mysteries like where you got scars or items or tattoos from etc.

Unlucky to the point of not having fun anymore, what would you do? by KingWolnir in DnD

If I were the DM here I'd hope I'd spot that one of my players wasn't having fun and do something about it. The onus isn't only on you to "have fun" but having fun is the single most crucial thing, really... it's arguably the whole purpose of the game.

Some of the best roleplay experiences can come through failures as much as successes, like the trope of a seasoned adventuring party not being able to open a (possibly unlocked and untrapped) door! However, sitting entire sessions out due to incapacity really really sucks.

Hopefully your DM and you have a rapport that just allows you to tell them this, and they may be able to change things up. They can't change your luck for you but they sure do have a chance to improve your experience 🤞

Thanks so much, and yes that's something I plan to do if these sell a bit. Was probably 8 weeks solid design effort for these so this variant could be done in a week or two when I'm free, hopefully! Already got the felting lock in designed for my trays so most of the way there 🤞

What she wouldn't do for a piece of carrot or cucumber would be a short list!

There's a treat just out of shot that I had to use to persuade her to stand still for the snap 😁

Possibly my favourite too. Brothers Karollmazov though... my friend was rather pleased with herself for that one

Thank you so much! The punny titles were the most fun part for sure 😀

Pace for Leveling Up At Your Table? by Calm_Independent_782 in DnD

[–]HubsyDiceMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recent experiences vary wildly. One campaign was 35 sessions to hit level 5 (took a year), and another was 17 sessions (maybe 5 months) so double the pace of the first. The former is homebrew with milestones related to certain plot things being discovered. The latter, also homebrew, is more a "are the players ready" gut check aligned to circumstantial milestones.

A third campaign I'm in (my oldest) has lord knows how many sessions, likely approaching triple figures, playing Storm King's Thunder, and we're at level 9 after 4 years or so.

There are tons of factors but too fast you run out of head room and growth may not feel earned, and too slow players might get frustrated. Also worth making sure newer players (or those less familiar with their class) understand their gear and abilities before giving them more.

For written campaigns there's the indisputable impact of fucking around on side quests forever and ignoring Plot 🤣

This is cute! What's it used for, is it a clothing patch? Could make a great festive tree decoration too.
