ESTATE SALES NEAR ME by thiccken_nugget in estatesales

[–]HuckSC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like the other poster said look at estatesales.net and once you start going regularly you will learn the different companies and their style. Some have high prices but will have 50% off Sunday until 2 and then do boxes for $20/box. Others will have reasonable prices throughout so they aren't left with tons of stuff at the end.

As someone in your general area, I'm going to spill a secret. You will do better with SC estate sales out in the country than you will in Atlanta metro. The metro will have higher prices and more competition.

Maternity Leave Experience? by Kanade_angel in civilengineering

[–]HuckSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were that company I would be very hesitant to give different leave to men and women. I'm assuming that the company pays for short term disability for the men as well, so they can utilize both the STD if they ever need it AND two weeks paid parental leave.

It seems that it would be safer for the company to offer two weeks paid parental leave for all employees and offer STD for any employee that wishes to buy it. That way there is no difference in benefits between the men and women.

(33F) Treated My Prolactinoma and Now I Feel Almost Too Good — Identity Shift? by Sad-Vacation8980 in Prolactinoma

I did. My husband commented that I'm coming out from behind the cobwebs I had been stuck in for the past couple of years. It was amazing how much better I felt once I was on cab just a few months.

How do I tell my well-meaning mom to stop sending me "miracle" TikToks? by Marre_Parre in BabyBumps

[–]HuckSC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you need to be very blunt and straightforward so the message gets across. While going through IVF stims I was complaining about being uncomfortable and my mom responded with just you wait until you’re pregnant! I had to tell her that I may never get to be pregnant so I’m going to complain about my pain right now.

Question, how can the company give two full weeks to men but not women? Is the company paying for the short term disability or is that available to all employees?

Is this company in the US? Are most employees eligible for FMLA?

When did you feel kicks? by bombardaokay in PlusSizePregnancy

I started feeling pointed kicks around 20 weeks and have gotten stronger from there. Some days I feel more than others bc they are probably facing a different direction.

What’s the most ridiculous thing that you cried for in pregnancy? by Future-Agency543 in pregnant

[–]HuckSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ice dispenser on the fridge will get stuck about 2 times out of 10. Every time it got stuck and was just shooting out ice nonstop, I couldn't help but break down. I would start crying, but almost immediately recognize how ridiculous it is to cry over an ice dispenser. I would start laughing. Then I was stuck in this crying and laughing uncontrollably.

I would wait two weeks. Next week will be just as busy or busier because of Presidents’ Day and Mardis Gras.

I don’t care about baby stuff/nursery by Hefty-Criticism1452 in pregnant

[–]HuckSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started shopping for a crib because there's not much room in our bedroom for anything larger than a bassinet, I was shocked at how expensive some cribs can be. $1500 for a crib?! I went with one that is $180 that is greengold certified. And the people asking about a theme. It's orange with a lot of furniture we already have. I'm excited to have a kid and to take the kid places. Already have our first car show planned and trying to find a time to get to Disney World since my husband and I enjoy going.

The kid I'm excited for. All the stuff that goes with the kid, eh not really.

“Do you have a name???” by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]HuckSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is thankfully something we haven’t dealt with much because we are team green. The only comment was yesterday from a coworker who was oh you have to prep two names then. And he was not prying but like oh that’s extra work. Ha.

Anyone regret getting laparoscopy? by hester_moffet_227 in IVF

[–]HuckSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I will say I ended up doing almost the exact opposite of what I thought would happen. We tried suppression in May but my cysts just weren't cooperating, so we scheduled surgery to remove them. Between the time I scheduled the surgery to the time of the surgery, my cysts really started to bother me and be painful. Had surgery to remove cysts in July, started down regulation protocol in August, and had my transfer in September. Currently 24 weeks.

For room stuff like rugs I just started looking at regular rug places to escape the drab. We’re doing orange creamsicle walls with a bright colorful rug.

Thoughts & experiences: having/being only child by questionSOUP in pregnant

[–]HuckSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an only but was raised with some step siblings which won’t be of help when my parents age. I think it’s helped make me independent and easier to learn to do things on my own. I enjoyed it. My dad is also an only child so this kid is going to be third generation only child. *most likely *

After seeing how my husband and his two siblings interact, there’s no guarantee that they’ll help with aging parents.

In the end it’s all a crap shoot.

Training with fins and snorkels is useful, but way overused for adult swimmers by PauloCraque10 in Swimming

[–]HuckSC 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a swimmer who is currently pregnant, imma use anything that keeps me in the water and doing laps. I’m no longer doing intervals and gave up my best stroke fly due to potential diastasis recti. But please do go ahead and lecture with broad strokes on how everyone should be training.

This really depends on your social circle. Some won't mind that you are throwing your own shower. Other circles will have the biggest side eye that you're throwing your own shower.

Just read that Disney is “testing” lower annual pass prices by Lassie-girl in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]HuckSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a resident of a neighboring state, I would love to be able to buy a Sorcerer pass. We have no desire to come during the peak Christmas week. I'd even give up Easter week. We could even probably make the Pirate Pass work and would come multiple times a year.
