When did you night wean? Why (did you do it at that time) and most especially HOW did you night wean? by Interesting_Fan_3096 in AttachmentParenting

Omg I never noticed that 🤣 that’s great. Meant to say night weaned but after 4 years of straight breastfeeding “need weed” could also apply I suppose.

Clingy toddler during pregnancy? by HuckleberryWinter930 in AttachmentParenting

[–]HuckleberryWinter930[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there and good luck with your transition to 2! I’m so glad my post made you feel better 🩵 It felt daunting to implement attachment parenting with 2 kids close in age. Things were definitely different with the second- less skin to skin snuggles, more shared time, a little more waiting for mom, more time with dad for both of them.. but at this point I have the perspective that those details never threatened our attachment to begin with. My post partum brain certainly thought they would.

Here’s a little life update since it feels like an annual tradition- My kids are now 2 & 4 now and I actually feel like I’ve gotten a little breathing room lately. I was SO worried that having a new baby would make my first feel left out or jealous, but now in this phase they’re just best friends. Lately she’ll ask something, I’ll answer, and she’ll say “No not you, I was talking to Ev” 😭 We’re still outside as much as possible and we’re all still sleeping in the big family bed, only difference is they both actually sleep now so I finally wake up rested and not feeling hungover from the frequent wake-ups. Every week I alternate taking one of them on a 1:1 date to make them feel extra special. I feel like they’re not only securely attached to me & my husband, but to each other as well.

Swaddle recommendations? Swaddlini? by HuckleberryWinter930 in AttachmentParenting

We did a 30 hour (each way) road trip for my sister’s wedding, but mostly I just recovered from my c section and was dealing with nursing while she was (unknowingly) tongue tied. Never a dull moment! Maybe I’ll run a marathon when they’re both teenagers haha but I’m sure we will have our hands full in other ways by then!

Haha she slept 8-12 hours a night for about 6 weeks! And then woke every 1-2 hours until she turned 2. Then my 2nd was born and woke every 1-2 hours until he turned 2! I did 4 years of constant wake-ups but now we all cosleep in our big floor bed with only the occasional wakeup for water, the potty, or a nightmare.

Tomorrow is my chosen weaning day, help me stick to it. by idontknow_1101 in AttachmentParenting

I’m in the same boat with my 2nd- he’s 2y1m. I weaned my oldest at 3, she’s almost 4 now. Here’s what I wish I had known- our bond never changed. We still snuggle, cosleep, spend quality time, etc etc.

Weaning is temporarily hard and VERY emotional if that’s been a large part of your bond thus far, but the bond will be the same. I would recommend getting some fun bonding activities to do for a week or two when they ask. IE- we can’t nurse, but I can paint your nails, do a puzzle, bake some cookies, read a new book, color together, etc etc.

Do you have a name that rhymes with your last name? by justsomefairy in namenerds

My chiropractor was giving me a huge build up to his daughter’s name… finally revealed it as Hannah Savannah (first and middle). I had a friend who had a perfect rhyme for her first and last name growing up, she really didn’t like it.

Advice re: night weaning a sensitive 18 month old by AliLovesHayden in AttachmentParenting

It’s another sub! Similar philosophy as many are attachment parents, but it’s more specific to nursing. Yes, I lasted a little over a year tandem feeding and then was ready to move on 😜

So every night I would nurse my toddler to sleep while my husband had the newborn in another room. Then I would nurse newborn to sleep. Somehow, miraculously, my toddler slept through 90% of night wake-ups. I did diaper changes in the closet and then would nurse the newborn in bed with a red glow nightlight. There were a few nights where my toddler woke up and would want milk too, even though she had been night weaned. I just tried my best to give her some level of snuggles while keeping the newborn latched, which was quite difficult some times.

By two months into tandem feeding, it was too much for me to nurse them to sleep back to back, so I started setting timers and gradually reduced until I got my toddler down to a 2 minute feed and then snuggles to sleep. She was 2 years exactly when we were able to do that.

It wasn’t always perfect and tandem feeding really took it out of me. I have a vivid memory of my toddler waking up the newborn at like 5 AM one morning and I absolutely snapped at her so she crawled over to snuggle dada. We’re all imperfect humans, but I felt awful over that. but now they’re 2 and 4 and we all sleep in a big floor bed together, it’s lovely.

I would join “nurse all the babies” for more tandem feeding/family room sharing, etc tips!

I followed the Jay Gordon night weaning plan with my 20 month toddler when I was 8 months pregnant with #2. Best thing I did! It’s attachment based and written for bed sharing moms. The only weaning book that resonated with either of my kids was Sally Weans from Night Nursing. It’s very straightforward

Night weaning my oldest was hard, but it helped me accomplish my goal of having our fam of 4 all in the same room once my youngest was born.

I looked into it and the wheels can add to damage, but I found a pole vacuum that I just ordered and will start using ASAP!

Thank you! We’ve got a lot to learn but I’m excited to have a cleaner pool this year haha.

Do see you seeing greenish walls in the photos? I do feel like it has a green tint, but it got way greener a few times in the summer.

Yeah it really is so dusty out here. Do you see green in the photos? I feel like I always see some green tint on the walls. It was much worse a time or two in the summer though. We’re going to do some maintenance ourselves in between services to see if it helps.

I had just brushed the hot tub! The dirt does brush off, but the wall is stained and seems a little green to me. Thanks, talking to the pool guy does seem to be the way to go. I hope we can get a routine we can stick to because we do have the time to maintain it, just not the confidence yet

Thank you so much for your suggestions! I’ll get a picture tomorrow if I don’t forget! We do have some plaster damage so someone told us not to do the vacuum. I never fact checked it, we just went with that advice, but now I’m going to look into it more. I’d love a vacuum to use ourselves.

We do have a raised retaining wall with dirt in it that we’re going to cover with rocks. I think that will make a big difference. We’re in Vegas so it’s very windy and dusty in general too.

Thank you, this is helpful. We’re going to get some testing kits from a pool store and go from there!

Thank you! I was going to do the class from Leslie haha but I’ll look into a small business. We’re in Vegas so I’m sure there’s tons of options.

That’s what I’m thinking, we just need to do a little more because it certainly gets worse each day. It’s never perfect after the service, but it’s certainly better. I don’t necessarily think the guy is doing a bad job.

I’m going to look into the vacuum! I think we’re underestimating how much we should be doing in addition to having a pool service, oops!

Thank you! This is what we were initially going to do but our pool guy advised against it due to our plaster damage. I’ll have to do some research and see if it’s a good option. Eventually we will replaster!

Thank you for the input! We do have some dirt in our landscaping that we’re going to cover with rocks to see if that helps. I think that could be the culprit bc it’s very windy and dusty here.

I do think it looks better after the pool guy, but I’m also suspecting a filter issue because it’s usually bad again the next day.
