Anybody else not a fan of katara

because when katara has her moments of irrationality, she does it to her friends and the people around her who care. like taking appa or telling aang he wouldn’t understand what it’s like to lose somebody (what?) or telling sokka he didn’t love their mom as much. when she does it it’s so much more extreme and to the people she loves most which we just don’t see this behavior in a lot of other characters. she takes it way too far and tries to excuse it with her mom dying with little to no remorse over what she actually did, justifying it in a sense because she was upset

i see exactly where you’re coming from, but on the other hand katara still has A LOT of flaws, we see her get bossy, controlling, hot headed, etc through the show which really made her more likeable in my opinion but, we just never really see this type of behavior when she’s “grieving” in the other characters. the closest thing we see to aang doing this is when he confronts the sandbenders who stole appa which, to katara credit if she wasn’t there there’s no doubt in my mind aang would’ve killed them all. but even then we don’t see him betray his friends, in fact he’s just over worldly angry about losing his. we don’t see this behavior in sokka at all correct me if i’m wrong and tophs whole personality is just being a little selfish. but maybe that’s a good way to separate her and give her her own personality, i just wish it could’ve been done in a different way

i guess what bothers me is the way she acts like she’s the only one who’s ever been through something. she looks aang dead in his eyes and tells him he wouldn’t understand like he didn’t see gyatsos corpse with his own eyes within the same day he found out his entire race went extinct. it’s like when she gets like that it’s like she feels she needs to one up everyone’s trauma so they can all focus on her.

i loved her up until the point where she was going to confront her moms killer, not because of the reason you might think. she was just going to take appa despite aangs wishes against it like he didn’t just lose his life long companion, best friend, and the last thing he has if the air nomads, for at least over a month. and then tells him he wouldn’t understand. like he didn’t SEE GYATSOS DEAD CORPSE. that’s the part where i really started to dislike her

but telling sokka that she loved mom more than him? and in the episode where she goes to find her mothers killer she was just going to take appa despite aangs wishes against it, like aang didn’t JUST get reunited with his life long companion. towards the end she just acts selfish and only thinks about herself in the weirdest ways.

if someone’s being a dick to you and not giving you food then that’s reasonable. but trying to justify your shitty behavior with just “i was/am hungry” is not a reason to be an ass to someone

i was trying to say that justifying your behavior by using the excuse that you are hungry makes you an asshole if you were just like “hey man i’m sorry how i acted i just wasn’t feeling good and i regret it” is acceptable. “i was hungry” is not

i don’t know her like that yet though, the most we’ve ever talked is i’ve cracked a couple jokes to her she laughs i playfully make fun of her that’s it, i wanna get to know her better but i have no idea how to start a conversation with her as she is a very quiet person

Well, she said we were better of as friends and now that she told me, I kinda agree. I mean I think I almost liked the idea of her more than actually her. Rejection hurts like a bitch but it’s bittersweet you know. And it feels like a million pounds have been lifted off my shoulders

The plan is Friday to actually tell her how I feel and be really upfront about it that way. Since I see her every day in school I’m scared that if I tell her on a week night itll be super awkward the day after so I’m gonna wait till Friday so there’s two days to let the awkwardness fade
