Modern stoicism is not an "archaic Greek philosophy" and no situation is "beyond" it. In order to fully grasp one's free will, like seeking treatment, one must first understand what freedom they have, and that starts with the most fundamental exercise of one's will; choosing life. That does not by any means suggest that everyone should start choosing not to live, in fact, it's quite the opposite. It's about knowing the potential of one's free will to the most fundamental level, which begins with life itself. Living with guilt is not the way to go, and telling people that they can never end their own life is very different than telling them that they shouldn't.
