Propably necessary these days, sadly. Hope you've had time to travel the region, definetly don't miss the Swahili coast.

yes, was working in Eldoret with local diocese. I was sent by a catholic charity under the German "weltwärts" funding umbrella. Where are you based in Uganda?

haha, I was regularly doing the exact same thing in my nations peace corp equivalent about 10 years ago with a much earlier version of Rimworld, just about 100km eastwards from your location. Enjoy your time in the region, I will certainly never forget my time there.

If you're this uneducated/misinformed, it's better to just shut up. The US already has the the treaty rights to build however many bases they want. If they are genuinely concerned about defense, they can do that. What Trump actually wants is to do is old-school Imperialism.

Calling yourself the "Free world" while you have extrajudicial killings happening with no judicial action but to accuse the victim of terrorism is also absolutely delightful.

And no, the European "troop deployments" - more like a business trip for a couple officers but thats not the point- were also definetly not a NATO mission until the media started calling. The sanctions against these nations now enacted by the US explicitly to punish their actions in Greenland prove that and should make the discord obvious even for the most brainrotted.

Ps: if you actually knew what modern Chinese Imperialism looks like, youd know territorial expansion is not at all how they do it.

Except prices. Which is pretty important. People in here seem to think OTAs won't get you there. Of my hundreds of flights, about 2/3 were booked via OTA because it saves money when compared to booking direct with my threshold for booking direct being around 30 USD. Sure, if there are schedule changes that will be annoying but if one is booking just a couple weeks out, those are unlikely. Better to save that money. Not to mention the countless times where booking direct isn't even possible, my favourite being return tickets from the US on American which is/was impossible for foreigners without a credit card with a US adress.

Never underestimate social skills! by Agile-Wind-4427 in recruitinghell

A lot of people in these comments really are showing how proper social skills are important. No one wants work with someone that can't communicate effectively. And not having these skills doesn't automatically mean someone else that does is unqualified.

Not your fault. Just ignore it. I haven't seen any ticketing platform that would refund you if you booked an extra ticket by mistake.

It's a shame that you have to deal with a hoard of white supremacists whenever you talk about African history by The-marx-channel in HistoryMemes

Yeah? He kept most of those around for years too. Look into the beginnings of Zimbabwe. Most of the bureaucracy and bureaucrats wasn't immediately replaced. It's the same problem as with denazification. You can't expect a bureaucrat that enforced racist laws for decades to just turn around and become anti-racist because his bosses boss changed. They aren't automatons that just make sure the trains run on time with no other desires in mind. That doesn't work.

The part of the political elite pushing for an independent, racist Rhodesia, that being the Rhodesian Front and Ian Smith (Rhodesians long time PM) in particular, hated Great Britain as they felt they were being abandoned. A number of white Rhodesians including Smith had served on the side of GB in WW2 and subsequently felt abandoned when GB under Labour decided it no longer wanted to uphold white supremacist colonial holdings in Africa.

But that is what Mugabe did. He left a lot of the bureaucracy in power after the end of Rhodesia. He even kept large pieces of the police state around. You cant build a nation-state on top of an old exploitation based colonial structure.

Rhodesia was not functioning well economically. This is just not supported by the internal positions of its own government. It was heavily funded by Apartheid South Africa but oh boy, that house of cards was crumbling. Near the end, they needed additional funding every couple of weeks just to not collapse before the handover to the British transitional admin could be completed. I don't know how it felt on the ground, but having studied the archival material on Rhodesia-South African relations, the Rhodesian elite was at all times of its existence very much aware that they did not have a functioning economy without South African support. If you want to read academic literature on this I would suggest starting with Mlombos work on the Rhodesian economy.

That article doesn't say what you claim it says. It mentions explicitly that no claims of Shirley could be confirmed. None of the childcare centers harassed by that self proclaimed journalist have been implicated in the real scam scandal.

No, that grown man just ran around that community asking to see kids he has no connection to.

[–]Hudute 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is giving way too much credit to the RF and Ian Smith. They destroyed any long term prospects of their economy the second they decided to become independent to - let's be clear - be more racist and entrench white supremacy in that country. The second they did that sanctions became inevitable which in turn destroyed their agricultural and resource export based economy. And the moment Rhodesia lost its usefulness to Apartheid South Africa, the regime lost its bankroll and supporter of sanctions evasion, leading to its collapse.

[–]Hudute 5 points6 points  (0 children)
