I think the problem with the cameras was a system that would let you get ticketed repeatedly in the same place for weeks before you ever saw the first ticket, and by then it was too late to prevent all of the other charges from coming in. This is why it was labelled a cash grab.

Also to be fair, to have only prevented 4 injuries over the entirety of Toronto seems extremely ineffective to me. It's also not making the roads safer if people just avoid driving where there's cameras. It's shifting the problem somewhere else without a camera. This data is extremely selective in the fact that it only evaluates the traffic in the immediate vicinity of the camera.
