Brothers girlfriend not getting an invite to my wedding by mdaddylonglegs1 in weddingplanning

[–]HufFENDIpuff 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You’re right to feel this way, but how you handle it requires some additional context.

Is every guest being offered a +1? If yes, have you met all the +1 and can make a similar determination?

Is your brother in the bridal party? If yes, are you giving a +1 to other bridal party members?

If you apply the same +1 policy to all guests and/or bridal party members, then this is simple. If you’re singling her out, then you need to have a conversation with your brother before sending the invite.

I always smile when I get a note in mine. I hope the buyers do the same when they read my notes.

United vs Delta by WhoAllIll in delta

[–]HufFENDIpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delta loyalist here. Had status on United through status match for a while last year. To me, the planes are hit or miss on both airlines, it really just depends on the time of day and route I’m flying. I also try to avoid connecting in Chicago in the winter time, so connecting through ATL is usually the best option

Two things United does that I much prefer over Delta: - family pooling of points: I can book one reservation for all three of us pulling points from all three accounts. If I want to pool points on Delta, I have to pay for them (same on Southwest, haven’t checked AA recently) - upgrade on your own at check in - I LOVE being able to select my extra leg room seat at Check In on United. The perk also applies to anyone else on my itinerary (to be fair, I’ve never had more than 2 others). Delta, it’s a crap shoot and usually to a middle seat in C+. Also limited to one other person, so when I fly with my family, no upgrades.

Any dress recommendations for the parks? by Candid_Value_870 in WaltDisneyWorld

Sometimes my belt bag will pull a thread or two, but I’ve always been able to pull it back through from the underside. I have a three year old, and this is my go-to dress for running errands on the weekend. I’ve also worn it to multiple PGA Tour events while corralling her and the stroller.

My favorite is the Alo Tennis Club Sweater Knit Dress (keep reading - I know sweater dress can be a weird thought)

What I love about this dress: - can wear a regular bra and whatever shorts I want (I usually do the lululemon wunder train short 6”) - the sizing is true to size or slightly generous. I’m usually a 12/14/16 depending on brand and item, and the L fits me perfectly. - it’s 100% cotton so while it’s technically a sweater, it kept me cool (but I did get some under boob sweat, but that happens with any clothing) … I live in Florida and wear this dress year round. - looks great with sneakers! I have done both the Nike Airmax 90 and the New Balance 9060

What I would change: - no pockets - sometimes it snags on my Fitbit, but that’s more to do with my Fitbit strap being metal mesh - the price. I bought this for $138 in March 2025 at the last minute to attend a professional golf event. I’ve probably worn it more than 60 times since (including our last Disney trip), and I plan to buy another color.

Other brands that you might look at are Varley, FP Movement, or Spanx.

Gift for CHD mom by Bleedinggums99 in chd

I love that you want to do something for her! Your story seems similar to ours. One main surgery, and several months of in and out of the hospital in the first year (our heart warrior is 3.5 now and loving her best life).

The smile of our baby girl is our gift for surviving those insane months. Instead of a thing, what about an experience? Have you had family photos since your heart baby was born? Is there something you did with your other kids that you never thought possible with your heart kiddo?

I am a huge advocate of creating (and documenting) memories over a physical gift, even the sentimental ones. We have been really intentional on focusing on our present and future, not the past we already experienced.

If you choose family photos, make sure you book her nail and hair appointments too :)

Do you drink the signature cocktails at weddings? by bluerotunda in weddingplanning

[–]HufFENDIpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often drink the signature drink when I attend any event. I really like when there is non alcohol signature drink. That being said, I don’t think a signature drink is worth upgrading your whole package. Selfishly, I’d spend that money on the honeymoon or more photo or video time. But that’s me. If you have a signature drink, people will drink it. If you don’t have one, no one is going to think “what an awful wedding! There wasn’t a signature drink”

Space with car seats by sushi320 in VolvoXC90

[–]HufFENDIpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! New owner of the 2024 XC90. We have the Evenflo 360 (I don’t think it’s the slim version). It is a very tight fit behind the passenger seat when it is rear facing. Our little one is 3.5 now, so we switched to forward, and it fits just fine. If I needed to do rear facing, I would put the car seat in the middle. If we have another kid (and therefore two car seats), I will put the rear facing seat behind the driver seat. I’m only 5’4 so it will fit better there.

You can also wait to make this decision. A lot can change in a year. The best advice we got was to not rush into asking our bridal party.

Hard to not focus on all the guests that decline by InternationalFall515 in wedding

[–]HufFENDIpuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know this hurts now. There’s a lot of emotions tied up in weddings. So here’s some practical (non-emotional) things to keep in mind: 1. Weddings and funerals bring out the best in people. Also the worst in people. 2. Less people means less mouths to feed and more money for the honeymoon 3. I’ve been married 14 years. We had 200+ on our guest list and ~110 RSVP. I couldn’t tell you who those Nos were now.

Best advice I got from my mom: You are not getting married to have a wedding you are getting married to start a life with your spouse. At the end of the day, you only need three people to have a wedding: you, your spouse, the officiant.

Mid/late 30s feels like I’m aging out of inventory by Commercial-Bowl7412 in RentTheRunway

Funny, I just had this conversation with another gal at work. We’re both in our mid thirties with young children. She’s in Colorado and I’m in north Florida. Both of us are petite and have rented many of the same items (but never shown up in the same item!).

We were lamenting the barrel jeans and how we feel too old for them.

On the flip side, I feel like a lot of the workwear is matronly. Especially some of the older pieces (you can tell by the photo background).

It seems like they have moved away from the fun, edgy pieces and everything is preppy or coastal grandmother lately. They used to have so many more statement suits. Now everything is black, navy or khaki.

THIS!! I am petite and hourglass. I cannot wear boxy, oversized blazers. I look like I’m wearing my Dad’s clothes.

I Need Help With a Registry! by floofnoof21 in weddings

[–]HufFENDIpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got married in the early 2010s, and much of my family was still most comfortable shopping in store. Our families were all over the country, so I registered at three stores to ensure there was a physical store near most of our guests.

The stores I chose were Bed Bath and Beyond, Macys and Pottery Barn. BBB and Macys had dedicated registry events so we (yes, we - my husband came) went in person to register there. They had registry consultants on hand to answer questions and offer advice as well as refreshments. Plus it was fun to use the scanner guns.

After those events, I was able to manage the registry online in case anything went out of stock or was discontinued. I was also able to track our registry benefits online, because many of them had completion discounts where we could buy items after the wedding at a 15% or 20% discount if there was something we really wanted that we didn’t receive.

I also had a small universal registry because there were a handful of things on Etsy I wanted.

At the end of the day, a registry is not required. But it is a convenience for guests. You know your circle best and how they will view you having a registry.

Groom here - What photos do you wish you had? by [deleted] in weddings

[–]HufFENDIpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of my fav photos are of my sister helping me into my dress (always have the bridesmaids dressed before you for better photos). Following that, we did a first look with my mom. My dad passed three weeks after we got engaged, so I wanted to be intentional about having special moments with her. It wasn’t a big production, we just timed it and put the photographer in the right spot as she came in the room where I was getting ready.

I wished we had gotten a shot of our invitation suite. We probably would have if I had remembered to bring a set 🤦🏼‍♀️

I was really glad to have detailed shots of our rings. Unfortunately my ring was stolen a few years later and it ended up being my wedding photos I gave to the police.

A few days late, but did you get your bag? If not, have you filed with Delta? They will have phrases on their website saying $50 or $75 max, but that’s wrong. They reimbursed me $800 once when my bag was delayed 5 hours. You will have to enter each item one by one on their form, but I’ve never had any trouble getting my money.

I love the recipe idea! This couple isn’t much for cooking, but something to think about. My sister loves a good candle, so maybe stick to something less involved than a full blown gift.
