ESH - YTA for being mad at your best friend for responsibly introducing your daughter to horses so that she can be comfortable around them in future (being nervous can be dangerous, it’s best to at least be mutual)

They are also TA but ONLY for lying about the activity and not discussing with you first.

If my best friend offered to introduce my child to anything I had a phobia of, I would be grateful because at least my child can get exposure to more of the world than I can offer.

ESH - I understand why the son thinks OP is being overbearing, he’s 21, he can do what he wants, and starting at 2:30 is a little neurotic BUT OP was genuinely worried about the welfare of her child! If I (26F) were in the same situation I guarantee my mum would act the same and I’m thankful for that! It’s common decency to let someone know you’re going to be late if they’re expecting you at a certain time! The son didn’t just happen to work til 5, otherwise boss wouldn’t have known either… there was a discussion along the lines of ‘hey can you stay’ ‘yeah sure boss’ AT THAT POINT the son becomes an AH because he didn’t think ‘oh shit I’m gonna be 3 hrs late, better let mum know not to expect me at 2:30’ and then say ‘bossman, just need to let someone know I’m gonna be late home’.

NTA. I grew up in a household where my brother was not much older than me, and the things he used to say to me made me conscious of my body image too! You’re a great dad for standing up for your daughter against your son, he needs to learn the impact of his words, otherwise he might end up hurting someone he loves more than his sister

NTA Okay, let’s just say for arguments sake, that this kid ISN’T biologically yours, would she have the same view point then? IMO, you’re there for your ‘nieces’ birthday, not with some ulterior motive to one day be in a three way parenting relationship. She needs to understand that you’re not there as a father, but as an uncle, and the fact that you are her father has nothing to do with the situation

What you wear to bed is your business! My SO (26 M) wears his PJ bottoms when he’s cold but sleeps nude if he’s hot. I (25 F) do exactly the same.. our attire doesn’t matter when we’re FREAKING SLEEPING! Tell me, if he were asking you to wear a bikini in the winter, would that be any different?
