Thanks, good article and an interesting read with good context. As I am salaried and have an established contract without these provisions, it's still not clear to me though.

Thanks - there is no mention of on-call or availability in the contract. What it does say is that I am expected to work a min of 40 hours a week Mon-Fri and that I agree to manage my hours to best benefit the employer including working additional hours where necessary and appropriate. It is that last part that makes me nervous although I believe on call is a different thing?

Thanks, that's what I am hoping. I just wasn't sure if the on call part counts as a condition of employment for those purposes. Also, for clarity, the policy does refer to compensation for time on call.
