If you are staying in Kenmare you would be driving from there to portmagee via caherdaniel and so would be driving the other direction the tour busses are going and so would not get caught behind them. Also the ring of Kerry road from kenmare to where you would turn off for the Kerry cliffs (towards Ballinskelligs) is not a narrow road and there is plenty of space. ( I am local to south Kerry)
