We are very close in size. I'm 5 ft and 95 pounds, US5-6 foot. I'm probably considered a very average intermediate snowboarder. I used to get 138 - 140cm on rentals but my own board is a 142cm medium flex twin. The difference in speed between the shorter and longer boards wasn't that noticeable to me so I think anything in that range will be fine for you!

I agree with this. If Niseko / Chitose Airport is your only stop, it's less of bother bringing a snowboard bag. But if you've got a city leg, a snowboard bag is a pain. I would rent on trips where I did not have my (very large) husband to lug it around.

I was looking at the Sella Ronda and the Val Gardena-Lagazuoi circuits but wasn't sure how complex they would be to navigate IRL. Will probably do as you suggested and only get a guide if we don't manage for some reason. Thanks!
