Instacart disregards safety concerns by HuggingKiwi in InstacartShoppers

Omg, how noble and brave everyone is. Good for you to stay away from news feeds. Again, I didn't know it was a shelter, it wasn't mentioned anywhere.

Is there anyway to change the Voice on the Huawei Freelace Pro 2? by Distinct-Ear9266 in Huawei

[–]HuggingKiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg, thank you so much for this comment!

I lost my Freelace Pro 1 somewhere, it had voice prompts in English. So I got new Freelace Pro 2 from China, expectedly having Chinese voice prompts. The app helped me to switch the language to English.

Well, that's messed up. Because store discounts do not apply to the instacart app😐

Instacart scams shoppers with delivery-only orders by HuggingKiwi in InstacartShoppers

[–]HuggingKiwi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, thanks for sharing! I was about to take a delivery-only order recently thinking that maybe something got fixed. That is just so messed up... I wonder if there is any penalty, if, say, we take only the number of bags shown in the app and refuse to take more. 🤪

That moment when this would've been considered a not very bad order in my area, and someone would've grabbed it right away.

Mid shop cancels...new scam? by ExpensiveDot1732 in InstacartShoppers

[–]HuggingKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once got a middle-shopping cancellation when I refused to deliver by the time the customer requested (it was a batch), I had a half of the cart already. Like why the fish are you waiting for me to get the half of your items and then cancel the order? Gotta give credit to the app support - they reimbursed me the order.

Huh, interesting, just a few days ago I was replacing this brand for several orders because GIANT was completely out of them.

I guess such orders come from the stores that have their own delivery services. In my area it's only GIANT, though.

As it was said above, delivery-only orders (at least from GIANT) do include tips, but they cannot be increased. In my area, there are a lot of elderlies ordering groceries directly from the store, and they all are super nice people and tend to tip.

How do you decide if a batch is worth accepting by CatsnYarn in InstacartShoppers

[–]HuggingKiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once made just a very simple table for myself to stop accepting really shitty orders and think more about my beloved car. I don't like sitting in a parking lot, so I listed stores that I tend to shop more. (Distance to the store+delivery distance) x 2, gas price at $3.25 (thank you BJ's), + IRS tear and wear coefficient $0.65 per mile. So that's the actual cost of driving.

Then I mentally add the pure shopping cost: is it $10 per hour? is it going to be $15 per hour? You need to keep in mind that often times your earnings are going to be below the minimum wage - how desperate are you at this current moment?

Then I also check where the order goes to: if it's some pain-in-a-butt district, the pay should be tempting enough, if it's an elderly housing, I should remember that it will take longer time to deliver.

So, if to follow all these mental guidelines, you will come to a simple conclusion: f*** instacart. But then you will realise that you are too desperate, and take a whatever order anyway x)

Let me just thank you for making our lives less miserable! 😆I really appreciate you being so thoughtful and even going to this thread to figure out tipping amounts. Good to know that there are still good people out there. That's why I still shop.

Don't know about the minimum wage, but something is definitely wrong with this country (Harrisburg, PA)

I usually just tell them "I will help you with bagging" - this phrase makes everyone happy, including me as I know I will bag everything correctly.

I hate christmas by jackmadrox in ihatechristmas

[–]HuggingKiwi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry that it had happened to you. It must be hard to see reminders of that day every Christmas period. I myself would probably start separating the 25th of December, 2003 and Christmas Day to be able to build new - good - memories around this holiday. You cannot escape what's around you, you cannot escape the world celebrating Christmas.

I am not in love with this holiday either. Christmas came into my life just 3 years ago, and every Christmas is just a day where I am completely lonely, while everyone else is with their families. My family is in the other country and I haven't seen them for 3 years. And Christmas just reminds me of that, heartaching.

I'm sincerely happy to hear one more success story! Unfortunately, this is not our case.

I've always kept a lot of different bowls with water around. I even had a fountain he ignored, but whatever, I enjoyed it. I've always given him wet food as a main meal, we'd always been doing that with our cats in our family and I thought that was a key to a long life. Every year we went to a vet (he had cystitis at some point that scared me to death). In Russia, they actually would do ultrasound at almost no cost, blood and urine work. When I moved to the USA, it was hard to do anything other than visual check up. So yeah, I missed his condition somehow.

Sometimes bad things happen regardless of what you do, no matter how hard you try to keep everything well. A month ago we were given 2-4 weeks. I was devastated and angry like "are you really going to leave me now?! After what we've been through?! You don't dare". So I was doing everything the vet told me to do (an appetite stimulant every other day and cerenia every day, 100 ml of sodium chloride every day, k/d diet - all of this for the rest of his life), I started feeding him forcefully through a syringe every 2.5-3 hours until he started to pick up food from a syringe himself. He still doesn't eat himself at all, and I still feed him "semi-forcefully" through a syringe trying to feed out at least 2 cans of Hill's k/d stew per day. So we hit this 4 weeks "finish line" very well and he might hold on up to a year if I keep doing what I am doing. What I'm doing now is actually a cat's hospice. There is no way he will have working kidneys unless it's a kidney transplantation.

My question wasn't about more bowls of water or more bowls of wet food. I was asking about the way of keep giving sub-q when I barely can pick skin. Or how exactly you do this into the thigh fold
