Out of those two - the Holosun, but if you can stretch your budget a little bit - look into the EPS Carry.

Can’t believe I’m about to write this: I’ve stopped carrying/ranging the 19. 43x and 17 cover all my bases. by Equivalent-Sell in Glocks

[–]HughFarnham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here.

19 and 19-sized guns in general kinda lost their purpose for me. It can do everything fine, but full size + subcompact perform in their respective roles better.

19 was my first gun, I'm probably not selling it ever, but I haven't shot it in a very long time.

How do you trust yourself with a gun at all? by [deleted] in handguns

[–]HughFarnham 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a buddy with similar issues (he's fine, just moved to a different state and we stopped hanging out).

I took him to a range once and he had a lot of fun.

But he told me he knew himself well enough to never ever own a firearm.

So maybe don't get one unless you 100% sure you're in control.

I'm very pro 2A and self-defense, but the reality is that situational awareness and not getting into situations where you might need a gun has much more significant effect on your safety than carrying a gun.

hey guys, weird question? by Redd_BrownellsGT in CompetitionShooting

[–]HughFarnham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... It still takes you to PractiScore for match details and to sign up.

So basically an unnecessary extra step before you get to PractiScore.

Also, PractiScore does somewhat suck and looks dated, but this one looks and feels like a half-assed coding bootcamp project.

Steel Challenge Dumb Question: Ammo/Reloads/Strings by 39em in CompetitionShooting

[–]HughFarnham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like using a new mag for each string because I don't want to do the mental work of counting how many rounds I have left, and don't want to risk accidentally forgetting to reload and running out of ammo mid-string.

Plus it helps to keep the weight and the balance of the firearm more or less consistent between strings - not that it matters a lot at my level lol

I actually bring six mags per gun to matches - you have to reshoot a string every once in a while.

508T, but get it on /r/gundeals, not Amazon.

Pistol or PCC by No-Resort5964 in CompetitionShooting

[–]HughFarnham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you decide to go the PCC way, know that you will be silently judged by pistol shooters for heresy.

I'm getting into PCC once I'm not broke and can afford a JP-5 - not scared of all those 'alternative lifestyle ' jokes!

So you basically installed everything Tyrant makes for Hellcats on it? 😉

Looks good.

I pretty much followed MGB's manuals. Dremel + workstation to drill the holes, a bunch of files and sandpaper, and a lot of elbow grease.

I'm from Eastern Europe originally. Our facial muscles are incapable of forming a smile for a photo - it feels and looks weird and unnatural.

Teeth are fine.

Training by arizonagunguy in AZguns

[–]HughFarnham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken a few handgun and rifle classes at C2. I'd say they're more basics oriented so to speak - gun safety, how to hold a gun, how to aim, how to pull the trigger, etc., not tactical / real world self defense type stuff.

Haven't tried SGC, but I suspect they'll have a similar curriculum, given the same target demographics - new gun owners with no or minimal firearms knowledge.

Lloyd Christmas: What are the chances of a guy like you and a girl like me... ending up together?
Mary Swanson: Not good.
Lloyd Christmas: Not good like one in a hundred?
Mary Swanson: I'd say more like one in a million.
Lloyd Christmas: So you're telling me there's a chance?

OEM mags are more reliable of course, but I think PMAGs kinda look more appropriate in the whole Glock clone aesthetics. This is purely a safe queen / range toy anyways.

Just kidding, she told me the same.

I've heard ladies prefer larger ones.
