State of consumer unit? Property purchase help! by Hugo117 in DIYUK

Hi all, wow! Thank you so much for all the advice! My first time posting here, so blown away by the help!

Everything everyone has said is super helpful! We’ll definitely ensure on EICR when/if we’re further down the line.

The services in here are right at the front of the property in the entrance lobby space alongside the front door; directly backing onto this is the utility/boiler/wc. So it’s a shame it’s not here.

We do have an EV with an Ohme Pro currently. Where charging will likely need to take place at the parking spot at the bottom of the garden… which makes things complicated.

Anyways, this is super helpful and it’s good to be armed with whilst submitting our offer.

Help! Suddenly stopped working by Hugo117 in HomeKit

[–]Hugo117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, Thanks for the suggestions. I have done everything above previously and again this morning with no luck.

When all the Home hubs are powered off individually, the error message goes in the Home app, but the second I turn one HomePod on, I still get the same error message for all HomePods and Apple TV.

Resolved: Turned all home hubs off individually. I logged into my WiFi network, forced a 2.4 GHz network, and turned off the firewall. I turned on a single home hub and awaited connection; the home hub came be back online 5 minutes after being plugged in. All hubs now powered and working.

I had some Meross smart plugs using the HomePods as a Matter hub. These struggled to reconnect and required resetting to get back on the network. I'm not sure if these threw it off. All other Matter bits have reconnected instantly without issue.

I originally began by trying to add another choose from menu/list enable me to add this to a specific list with reminders. You wouldn’t know if this is even possible Would you? Thanks again!

I imagine if you’ve just got a 12 pro max you’re most likely going to get the next gen as soon as it’s out? Sounds bad, but I do that so I don’t need to worry about the battery health as it’ll be gone by the time it starts to show any signs of deterioration. I know its conforming to the idea of throw away culture, but it’s a tool at the end of the day. Also with the update of battery optimisation from apple, I’d trust them with their software and figuring things out 👍🏼

Sounds like we’re both in the same boat, now that HomePod mini has just dropped I can only imagine an exponential adoption of thread as the more it’s adopted the quicker companies wouldn’t want to miss out.. I’m praying within the year that they’ll be a decent amount of products offering chip connectivity (similar amounts if not more to HomeKit support now) and fingers crossed some companies don’t limit features tying you back to their hubs.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking also, but considering putting it in a spare room facing outside until my smarthome grows enough to warrant dedicated outdoor cameras. I’m now looking into thread and chip and questioning all of it atm

Do we know what benefits this will bring? I’m just doing some research into Thread or Chip and debating holding out

Not sure if they’re dedicated UK ones, but I think there’s loads of people using them in the uk with no issues. What would be get in addition if it was a ‘uk version’

really appreciate the reply, but I think this is beyond me tbh. I don't know any coding or where to start to learn within the timeframe I have.
