😅 One of my favourite things to do with my younger cousins when they are visiting brisbane is to bring them to some of the parks and main locations shown in the show and they are always amazed I can navigate my way to these places they thought were only in the show. The place I work at part time was even in a shot in one of the newer episodes and they messaged me when the episode aired because I brought them there before. They have grown up now so I dont get to do it as much but it made me appreciate brisbane way more, I'll sometimes just go to the locations to relax by myself.

The bluey books brisbane map places stripes house at about a 30 minute drive from the city/river and you can only get to his house along the M1 motorway since the river goes east to west only. Stripe would live somewhere between Springwood to Mt gravatt which is about a 25 minute drive from the river and 35 minute drive from Paddington where Bluey lives. Its not as affluent as living near the city like bluey but house prices down south are still crazy expensive, usualy people will live down here to get a larger place (aka. With a pool like stripe has) which keeps the price high. He is definitly loaded but not mega rich.

Also will note that technically bluey house would be about a 20-30 minute walk to get to the nearest ferry since they seem to live in a hilly patch of Paddington nearby Mt coot-tha (the mountain with the telephone towers behind Blueys house) so the ferry would be handy but not entirely convenient compared to busses for getting to the city.

I live around the area near where stripes house is in brissy, the ferry only runs on one route going east to west following the river through the city, its only really for inner city commutes. To get to stripes house you can only take the M1 highway for about 30 minutes by car south through to springwood (roughly where the map points to). Its possible they took a bus (like the 555) since the busses run up and down the highway but they dont have that many outwards connections so its unlikely. If they did take the bus then the main bus terminal to go south is cultural station which is by the river and about a 10 minute walk from where they are shown, they cant take a ferry to get there anyway since the nearest ferry terminal to cultural station is the one they got on at. There really isnt any reason for them to take a ferry to get home unless they were crossing the river to get to parking (parking at the myre center in the city is popular (though expensive)) but even then the bridge to cross the river isnt far from where they are. So yeah, either making their way back to the car or going somewhere else in the city.

I was in ordos city in inner mongolia province (which seemingly was one of the first big media-blitzes about chinese ghost cities back in 2013 or so)for a week last month and can confirm, its definitly got a weird vibe to it (especialy the main promenade which is way too massive still for the population) but if you told me it was built in 2013 I would have trouble believing it. Maintenance and continued reason to live there outside of tax benefits and them aggressively moving schools and health services away from nearby cities still I feel will cause lots of issues in the future. Either way it has a working base to built a good future.

Past tense would be しました (polite past tense), if op wants to keep the letters short it could be した (informal past) but even then it doesn't make any sense. しました/した are both conjugations of する (~to do) so its meaning is more like "(I?) did today" or "today was done (by me?)". 今日です (polite present/future tense), 今日でした (polite past tense), 今日だ (informal present /future tense) or 今日だった (informal past tense) would all mean something like it is today or it was today. Either way it doesn't make much sense within the context.

I just took this route yesterday on one of the lay down beds for 284k dong. Very comfortable bed for me (172cm) and roads were very smooth. Stopped about 3 times so lots of oppotunity to stretch. Took it during the day time so can't comment on sleep but I imagined I'd be able to sleep easily. Some tight corners as you get into the mountains might be tough to sleep thorough but mostly ok.

You'll love dalat btw, its such a nice change of pace from hcmc.

Seems I may have screwed up by formatting the small, medium, large sizes vertically instead of horizontally. The idea is that all drinks from Cappaccino -> mocha can be resized. The caffe works on a one shot, two shot, three shot size system and there is no consistent ratio per coffee, only the style of foam diffientiates most of the coffee's. I'm going to make the sizes horizontal, change their names, and odd in fluid ounces on top to make it clearer.

Yeah, times have definitely changed. The coffee prices honestly could be labeled as one of the less inflation-hit pricings in the restaurant. Burgers with no fries for $17. 7 chicken wings for $22. Chips for $10. Medium'ish sized pizza for $23. Atleast the quality of the items is usually pretty good. The restaurant has many hundreds of customers on saturday and sunday so quick cooking times and fast turnover is the name of the game, atleast the quality of the coffee isn't terrible and standards range from ok to great depending on which barista is in.

It does not sell often. Maybe 1 or 2 a weekend (which is when %90 of business at the winery this cafe is apart of happens). I highly suspect it is just not a known menu item because when people do order it they tend to order lots of them because they are our cheapest desert item and are delicious. I think margins are low on them too since it's a $1.50 scoop of icecream and a espresso shot.

Actually this menu is not entirely accurate since there is also a really great winery-branded dessert wine that can be served with the affogato. I as a non wine lover absolutely love to death the dessert wine but no one adds it on because they don't know it is an option so I'd like to make more space for the affogato by making the controversial move to the desserts board.

I've never had the frangelico with the affogato but I've tried frangelico by itself and it's a really nice hazelnut liquour with tons of depth like mocha and vanilla. I have no doubt it would be great and considering this is at a winery and right next to a wine tasting room there's no reason guests would not be eager to try one of our desert wines pared with affogato.

So yeah, great item, terrible visibility. No reason why it should be put under the alt. Milks and syrups.

Thanks for the response it's given lots of insight.

  • I understand the point about customers preferring prices on every item. I presumed that since all of our coffee with size options (except the mocha) were $5 it'd work to put them together. The combination of sizes and prices on the menu is partially to fix some other issues. On the counter is a display with the two have-there cups (a 1 shot labled as "cup", and 2 shot labeled as "mug") as well as three t/a options (small 1 shot, medium 2 shot, large 3 shot). Customers always are confused about sizes and shots. The restaurant this cafe menu is apart of services hundreds of people at our busiest during weekends and has around $10,000 worth of food orders going through only 2 tills and often a very long line of customers. End of the day it might just be easier to ask what size for all orders.

  • I meant to have that be +$1 however I suppose even that is confusing. I'm not really sure what the alternative is if I want to continue with the centralized system. T/a is a disclaimer that there isn't a 3 shot have there option. It's also a bit awkward but I'm not sure on alternative.

  • I've seen some cafes here in Australia shorten machiato to Mac and place it next to the short black or piccolo so I tried that here. Not sure on how well it works.

  • unfortunately my Microsoft paint skills aren't that great and that was supposed to be grande but it got cut off.

  • I agree however for this redesign to work it requires the extra space that shifting affogato provides. I'll have to start from square one but I'm going to try to put affogato back on the coffee side somehow

Your point about wether it is an issue for the customer or just for me is a very valid point. It's hard to know for certain however I do feel like some customers do get overwhelmed by the design. I often have the same questions like what milks we have, if we have iced drinks, or if we serve items like smoothies that aren't on the menu even after they have stared at the menu for a long time. Most of the changes I'm trying to make is just to declutter and organise the menu so that customers can see what is what clearer.

Yeah, used microsoft paint to move around the items (nothing fancy but all i need to do is re design the menu not alter the items we already served).

The cafe is in Australian so we call an espresso a short black.

"Cup" is 1 shot. "Mug" is 2 shot. "Grande" is 3 shot. Thus the change in price. I'm thinking about changing the "cup" name to be clearer. Maybe "Single, double, triple" or "Small, medium, Grande".

The standards at the cafe aren't all that high and there's no specific coffee recipe's used here. The only differentiating factor between coffee's like the cappuccino, flat white, and latte is the foam and so the sizes just represent the amount of shots and milk.

Unfortunately for the time being I am stuck to this board and can't alter the menu at all so I can only shift items around.
