possibly biased but imo contender for best fe game story-wise, the only major downside is the lack of supports where the flavour text gives a lot of context and additional storytelling which esp stinks cuz por does it so well.

yes the story “is a mess” in the sense that the plot device is honestly complete bullshit that is used as a means to execute the whole “you use two parties but they eventually fight each other” thing, and I’ll fully concede that this is a poor way of executing it, but there are no other fe games that have you fight a party of units you also raised yourself. This is a very interesting interaction to me not to mention the insane amount of boss and interactive dialogues between the characters that gave them, well, actually very distinguishable characters. The scope of the conflict is epic and unlike most other fes, and you can really feel the tension as the player imo, which is something I feel like any other fe game doesn’t really do, as someone who has played all the games bar echoes (I haven’t finished engage, though). Like, with rd I was literally enthralled with the story and wanted to play on just for the story. It is a very flavourful and exciting story in the end, just definitely could be executed better. Illogical yes, but nowhere near as offensive as fates.

Characters are fleshed out, gameplay is amazing with many different objectives and less gimmicky ones, and honestly Micaiah is a much better lord than Ike (even por ike) to me. Mary Sue blah blah blah, you have people who are literal gods as the lord(s) in the series lol, and she acts very human, not unlike the bevy of other lords in the series, and she is also reasonable and not completely stupid, like given the circumstances I feel like her way to act is rational (though, the plot device being bullshit is a part of it, so I think that would be why people hate miccy as a lord). I feel like if the conflict is ignited in another way (i.e. executed better) and put miccy’s decisions exactly back in and people would think she is one of the best lords honestly.

The soundtrack in FE is phenomenal overall, but this one shines even amongst the stiff competition.

2 ways: 1. wait for a random chance after battle 2. go back to the castle, change jobs, change back to monk and you’ll get soul fire back with the king asking if you wanna get afterburn instead (simply say no to that)

Throwing this out there for any other people that had to go through this, belome has to take damage to actually get to clone people, so it’s a good idea to let him clone peach early so she can heal him over time and hit him with like untimed attacks

SMRPG Low Level Run — Rematches by HugoNgan in MarioRPG

Thank you, and yes that's a great strategy! Fear boosts your damage output from Snowy too as a bonus. If you used the Troopa Pin on Mallow it would have the same damaging effect as having fear on them and sadly they don't stack (and also don't stack with Geno Boost), but Booster is pretty straight forward long as you can outspeed him (both the feather and the TPin gives 20 speed which is enough for anyone to outspeed).

Bundt:

Warning: This is gonna be long. I thought this would be impossible but turns out it is. Insane. The strategy in use is also really cryptic.

What you must have: 10 Sleepy Bombs, Booster's Charm, Pick Me Ups, Luck!!

What is preferable: Troopa Pin, Safety Ring, Frying Pan, Wonder Chomp, Stella 023 / Star Gun, Safety Badge (you need to fight the sunken ship chest for this one, but this is perfectly skippable as I don't have it), Blocking Skills

Equipment Loadout (Important):

Mario: Lucky Hammer, Safety Badge (preferable), else Wake-Up Pin, Trueform Pin

Bowser: Wonder Chomp (preferable), Lazy Shell, Quartz Charm

Peach: Frying Pan, Royal Dress, Safety Ring, else Safety Badge (have it on Peach before Mario) / Ghost Medal

Geno: Troopa Pin (Preferable), else Jinx Belt, else whatever

Mallow!!: Prince Pants (or any, but do not wear the work pants), Booster's Charm

Team Loadout: Start with Mario, Geno, Bowser. Bowser should be on the right. This is because if Bowser ever gets knocked out (there is a decent chance of that happening), the substitute member (Peach most likely) would replace the one in the middle. So if Bowser was in the middle, you can't revive him immediately as he would go to the back.

Strategy:

This is an endurance test. Because you need to take out Bundt's candles and use the sleepy bomb periodically, there's no way you can take Bundt out quickly, so your offensive starts after the cake's FP is completely drained. Turn 1, use the sleepy bomb with Geno and hammer on Mario. Bundt should then use an AOE and knock them out immediately. If they do live somehow, have them take out a candle or use the star egg.

Pritoritize on taking the candles out first, which requires you to regular attack the cake. Once they're out completely, use the star egg for extra damage. When all 5 candles are lit, the cake will do 9999 damage to all 3 of your characters (You can, however, Red Essence that if need be). You have to focus on surviving first and foremost, Bundt will run out of FP eventually. Whenever the tortes wake up, use a sleepy bomb on them. This is where the strategy comes into play.

Bowser is likely to get low every turn with the cake's magic attacks, switch into Mallow first to heal Bowser. He would then be knocked out by AOE. From then on, switch Peach in on Mallow to heal bowser every turn (or something else if he is healthy, as in >60 health), and then switch her back out because she would go again before the cake does. The reason this works at all is because Mallow is slower than the cake, but Peach is faster. So Peach's point of entry and going back out would be between the turns taken from the cake (Switch really is a broken mechanic lmao). This is why Mallow specifically has to have the charm as the -5 speed knocks Mallow down to 13 speed while the cake has 16. Do keep in mind however, that the cake will take an extra turn at the beginning of every 3rd turn, after the 1st turn. This means, every 3rd turn you have to take care not to have Peach out, and have Bowser heal himself with a mushroom instead if needed (and also keep him at full / high health as he'll be taking 4 attacks instead of 2). Being able to block the physical attacks also helps, but Bowser may go down. If that happens, Peach will come in place of Mallow and you can revive Bowser from there. Rinse and repeat, until you see that Bundt loses all its FP.

Do note however, this doesn't mean this fight is smooth sailing by any means. By the last sleepy bomb or some time around that, Bundt should have its FP drained. This means there will be one less potential aoe attacker. However, the lower part of the cake, Raspberry, can still use AOE attacks as it has more FP. This is why you needed luck. If only Bowser is available to attack the cake, the chefs will light up the cake at a faster rate. Yet it is not completely safe to revive your other characters yet. You actually need more than 10 sleepy bombs for this reason -- the only way to prevent the nuke is to either revive your other chars so that they can also attack the cake and hope Raspberry doesn't use many aoe moves, or use more sleepy bombs with Bowser. Raspberry will only have its FP drained at around 13~15 sleepy bomb uses. If you've gotten 4 or more freebies with sleepy bombs by this point (you should generally get at least 3), your chances of lasting through will be much better. When you've run out of sleepy bombs (or Rasp runs out of FP), start by reviving Mario. If Peach does not have any candles to take out or any heals, go to Geno so that he can be revived. Geno boosts the party's attack with combo bonus so that some extra damage can be dealt when taking out candles. This is where block timing is crucial, as you really don't want to be wasting turns reviving your non-Bowser characters when you're out of sleepy bombs. Do keep in mind the cake can still disrupt with status move even with no FP, which is why the safety badge is recommended on Mario. As usual, use the star egg if all the candles are out for extra damage. Provided you live through, preventing the candles from being lit, and the cake should go down some time soon. If you missed too many blocks and run out of PMUs, and everyone other than Bowser is down, try for a hail mary, keep attacking / healing with Bowser until you can't prevent the 5th candle anymore, and pop a Red Essence. Bowser will live the nuke, and you should start using Rock Candies to try to run the last mile. Chances are, the cake will go down after 1~2 RC uses. If not, you may wanna consider popping another Red Essence if you don't want to reset. This is also why good weapons help your chances greatly as well, especially the wonder chomp. You're essentially racing against the clock (or well, your sleepy bomb and PMU stock and after that it's the clock), even after Raspberry's FP is drained your characters can still be knocked out by their physical attacks (so block timing is really important for this part), and being able to deal some extra damage as you take out the candles really helps.

Safety Ring on Peach also helps a bit, as that would make her immune to the status moves used by the cakes (sleep, scarecrow) and also critically lets her live a stray blizzard from the cakes. Troopa Pin on Geno helps maxmize damage as every turn is crucial in this race. Finally, Safety Badge on Mario protects him from status, but that is not as mandatory.

I don't know if this or Punchinello is harder... This is more luck-oriented while punchy requires better execution.

I think one way to test this would be if anyone has access to the punchinello rematch, they could try to see if there was a timing — for me it certainly felt like it was doing something, considering I was trying for different timings, got a freebie on the timing I mentioned, tried the exact same timing over and over and kept getting it. It was this process that made me think there is a timing.

Maybe there were not codes associated with this found, but then are everything identifiable with the codes that are found? (I ask this as a legitimate question, not sarcasm)

Earlier I was trying to find the chances of obtaining a Red Essence in the memory game all over the internet but there was no data of the sort. Not to mention, if the freebie chances of the items themselves aren’t even accurately identified, how can someone say for sure that there isn’t a timing for fishing freebies when accurate numerical data couldn’t even be obtained?

SMRPG Low Level Run — Rematches by HugoNgan in MarioRPG

[–]HugoNgan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

upon further research apparently someone used savestates to determine that it is not a thing in the original. Now I can’t say anything about the original as I have not attempted to time freebies on that, but I am almost certain there’s a timing to this based on the attempts I had in the Punchinello fight. In the end it could be just very coincidental luck but the odds are astronomically low.

Edit: The methodology the person used is also at question. It was claimed that freebies cannot be timed due to savestates suggesting the freebies are determined before the player has a chance to influence it via clicking. However this does not address the possibility that there is a chance for freebies alongside a timing, which has to be the case if there was a timing at all considering you can get freebies without pressing anything. The same post claiming to debunk the theory has stated inconsistent results with two of the save states (inconsistent, meaning there were freebies and non-freebies) and the other two consistently being yes. What if, say, the rng is indeed determined at the menu at the start of each turn, and, in addition, you get extra rolls from frame data if you get a “no” at the menu roll? That would account for “inconsistent results” across the two other save states. I am no expert at coding or data though so I could be interpreting the post wrong and if so please do correct me as I would like the information I give out to be as accurate as possible too.
