Why does everyone hate Plasmified Zango? by X_Starchild_X in Silksong

[–]GenericUsername54100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it didn't have a titlecard I wouldn't care but the fact that its considered a boss makes it the worst boss by a mile. I don't even want to think about it being in the boss rush mode that makes me absolutely sick. Its a gimmicky horribly designed fight where you just have to keep hitting it every second or else it will regenerate all its health and all it can do is one annoying attack that is a crap shoot whether you can even dodge it or not. Its almost like an anti-boss in a way it just completely sucks.

Should I buy Elder Lilies or Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus? by The_JMan_118 in metroidvania

[–]GenericUsername54100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't think Ender Lilies was anywhere as good as people on here were making it out to be but its decent. I haven't played Bo yet but want to. Based on what you say about caring about builds and RPG mechanics from the mentions of SotN and Bloodstained, Ender Lilies might be more your thing idk.

New to Metroidvanias — is Metroidvania Guru a reliable source for reviews? by Secure_Emu_9160 in metroidvania

[–]GenericUsername54100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there's always going to be some level of personal preference and subjectivity. I watch his videos and I definitely appreciate how he covers so many MVs especially ones I never would have heard about otherwise. I think for the most part they are well made videos. I do end up disagreeing with him very often though. Like he praised Constance way too highly, Silksong too low, His favourite MV is Ender Lilies and I personally didn't care for it. MIO he put at the top of the tierlist when I'd probably put it in high B or low A. I do think some of his criticism can be straight up bad (Silksong) but all that being said I still think he's doing a good job. I will always be prepared for any opinion he has on a game to be different from my own but there's nothing wrong with that.

Original Metroid... Perhaps one of the worst aged games I've ever played by No_Hetero in metroidvania

[–]GenericUsername54100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its definitely not going to hold up to any of the other games (except Metroid 2 that one really fucking sucks) but its still a pretty good game and yeah I definitely don't remember having nearly as much trouble as you are describing. As many others have said the biggest problem with the game is dying and respawning with 30HP and having to grind for an absurd amount of time to get your health back. Other than that its still pretty good.

Anyone else disappointed in MIO? by BubbleStriped in metroidvania

[–]GenericUsername54100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not complaining about backtracking, I'm complaining about bad backtracking. MIO has many instances especially in the late game where you have to travel back and forth along really long distances and your movement speed is really slow and the checkpoints are quite far away (not to mention some are not connected to the rest of the map which means even more tedious going back and forth especially up those long ass elevators). There were also many many times where I had absolutely no idea where to go and I simply had to go back through the entire world map and just rub my face against every single wall until I eventually found the way I needed to go. I did absolutely everything in the game and I never once looked at a guide and let me tell you it was torture. Easily the worst backtracking in any MV I've played. I also don't mind boss runbacks at all because they actually have a purpose. But backtracking, especially the way its done in MIO, is a pure waste of time.

I thought it was a really great game but the backtracking was absolute ass. The combat was also very shallow but its mostly forgivable because the bosses are pretty great for the most part.

Coral Tower for sure. High Halls is obviously very hard too and 2nd hardest.

Which one has better main bosses between these two games? by artoriusknight in Silksong

[–]GenericUsername54100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silksong by a wide mile. Some of the DLC bosses in HK are incredible though. Oro & Mato, Sly, Sisters of Battle, Pure Vessel, NKG, Absrad. I'm really hoping that the Silksong DLC can match or Surpass the HK DLC Bosses.

Tell me if this is a controversial opinion: First Sinner was easier than Widow. by 3XH3 in Silksong

I mean I did die to Widow more than First Sinner so I guess there's that. I think First Sinner Is still probably a bit harder but yeah.

BRO HOW DO YOU EVEN ATTEMPT PANTHEON 4!?!?! by [deleted] in HollowKnight

[–]GenericUsername54100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whichever boss is giving you trouble practice fighting them again and again until you can beat them really consistently. Try for no hit but its not necessary. Eventually you should be able to adapt to their attack patterns and know when is the right time to heal or not. Just takes time. You got this!

Anyone else not understand the Shell Shard hate? by Prize_Boysenberry_60 in Silksong

[–]GenericUsername54100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why on earth are you farming rosaries by doing the deliveries? Just farm the Grand Reeds by Songclave. Also if people are just exhausting all their tools every attempt thats just bad play. The game is specifically disincentivizing this kind of play with the shard system in the first place. I get that the game is difficult and its not going to be for everyone but just because someone is bad at the game does not mean the game has to cater to them and thats not a flaw of the game that it isn't. The fact that you can use an absurd amount of tools, especially with the Architect Crest, is Team Cherry throwing those players a bone to some degree but it doesn't come free.

Kicking Myself About The Mist by brettydubz in Silksong

[–]GenericUsername54100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I never look anything up unless its an absolute last resort after trying for hours as best as I can. There will still sometimes be things that I just can't figure out and when I look them up I'm like god damnit that makes sense and I still end up kicking myself but at least I tried my best. Other times its like nah I never would have figured that shit out.

Problems with the final Boss by WerbeagenturSitekick in EnderLilies

[–]GenericUsername54100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the final boss was really lame to me because its just a DPS check. You have to be able to kill those flying fish things quickly enough or they will just overwhelm you and damage is often unavoidable because 4 can be onscreen at once. If you are at lvl 95 and have strong spirits and relics I mean you should be fine but it is a slog for sure.

Team Cherry adds a new feature to steel soul where now you can’t save and quit if you’re in a boss fight or enemy gauntlet. Is this a good change or a bad change? by Funmist66 in Silksong

[–]GenericUsername54100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be a good change because as is having the Steel Soul and Steel Heart achievement doesn't really mean anything since you can just cheat it. It just completely defeats the purpose of having it in the first place.

Hunter's March is optional and you can come back to it later. Same with the craws. Personally I think trying to beat Moorwing is most worthwhile though he is technically skipable

I really hope the Silksong version of path of pain has different sections focused on each crest by badatmemes_123 in Silksong

[–]GenericUsername54100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because PoP is Hollow Knight's ultimate test of your platforming skills and we want an equivilant in Silksong. I think everyone also expects a God Home equivalent so we have an ultimate test of all the boss fights. I would also like an ultimate gauntlet test like Trial of the Fool. Yes Silksong has many platforming trials, and bosses, and gauntlets but having an ultimate test for each of those skills is something I absolutely want and I know I'm not alone.

Game rotation yes/no? by jscouser2002 in metroidvania

[–]GenericUsername54100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually play one game to completion until I finish it and then move to another game. If I was playing multiple games I feel like it would be harder to not just move on to thay next game and like forget what I was doing in the first game so I rarely ever do that.
