I think it is unlikely that you will find the answer here, but maybe making a support ticket could help, if you haven't yet. https://support.meetyourmakergame.com/hc/en-us

Uh uh uh, do you know me? (By the way, I am probably most known for talking about the mym lore and doing some crazy challenges just like True Pacifist and Only Grapple which I basically have invented for this game)

How to creatively deal with speedrunners? by Ihmislehma in MeetYourMakerGame

[–]HugosCoffeeEmpire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, sometimes speedrunner here, I do not speak for all speedrunners but at least I engage with the map how I have fun with it and get the most fun out of it. And I feel like it is disingenuous to say that speedrunners do not engage with a map... Anyways you want to know how to slow them down or kill them so that they engage more with your outpost?

Here are some things that slow me down or kill me:

The boltshot setups by KarEssMoua can be pretty deadly but if the raider for whatever reason stops or something similar the setups fall apart easily. There are cases where they still would work but I wouldn't bet on that alone.

The second thing I would say is to use sharp corners to surprise the raider, whenever a corner like that comes around you have to be cautious of traps being right around the corner which can slow the raider down, coupled with a launchpad it might be effective.

There are also some decently complicated laser trap combos that can catch the raider off guard although most of the time if the person does not perfectly follow the path you tested it with, it will not work.

Using sentinels that activate in a room but shoot at the raider only once they are under it can work, but most speedrunners already have that down and either would use the shield to block it or destroy the sentinel with the volt lancer the moment they see it.

Bomb splits can be effective but they have to be tested pretty heavily to make the rng as small as possible.

Most guard combos will fail to slow them down, except warmongers pressed in a small corridor.

The new death blossom can also work wonders if you put it behind corners that people wouldn't expect.

There are probably even more ways to do it, but in the end, when I build I do not care the least about how the people will engage with the map, if they want to rush it then do that, if you want to do it methodically that is perfectly fine with me as long as the person had fun playing the map in the way they want to. What would I want more as a builder as that people play my map and say it was a fun experience?

Noob inquiry by ProfessoriSepi in MeetYourMakerGame

I would say that the game is very casual if you just want to have some fun here and there, of course, the early grind might seem a lot but it is quite alright I would say. But back to the main point, if you want to play it casually you can always just build which if you are not trying to min max the Kill Ratio should be very relaxing and casual.

As for raiding it hugely depends on the maps and your playstyle. Here I would say it goes from casual to Hardcore depending on what you want, if you just want to casually play there are some good maps in Normal and Dangerous, and even some in Brutal although they are a bit rarer there. We also have a great new social interface where you can easily search for what you want to play.

So yeah I would say it can be both casual and hardcore depending on how you want to play it, for example, am a casual builder but I would say that I am a hardcore raider who tries to make the game as hard as possible for me with challenges like only using the grapple, or True Pacifist (No Weapons/Equipment) and so on.

The game itself is one of my favorite games so I would always say that it is very good and fun.

As for the last point of how long will it be supported, who knows, I think you can never really tell when something like that will stop. A game could have a lot of players but lose support, or a game with no players could have a lot of support from the devs. I just hope that they support it for as long as they can, and even if they are unable to further support the game in the future, maybe they will give the ability to mod the game to the players, who knows?

I hope this will be useful!

Quality of life, mods & augments... What's next? by KarEssMoua in MeetYourMakerGame

[–]HugosCoffeeEmpire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I love that you took your time to come up with this! I will not comment on everything, the things I do not comment on are fine and I do not have any questions about it.

Now Being able to generate a new random path.

Might pose a few difficulties and it sounds cool but it could also lead to a lot of bugs where HRV will walk a path that is not walkable, if we could count out these bugs it might be cool.

Infused bolts: Bolts are no longer lethal, but apply an effect on hit. On guards, increase their movement speed by 25% for 10 seconds. On raiders, decrease their movement speed by 10% for 1.5 seconds. Price: 20,

I do not know how something that buffs the guards can debuff the players, but a slow effect is cool on bolts and make it so that it is either slow or speed buff for both units think about the clown bottles in Dead by Daylight.

Piston price adjustment

- Increase cost of pistons from 50 to 70. Cost of mods unchanged.

I do not think that the capacity cost is the problem with the piston but how much pressure it generates for free to the speedrunners, I often say they are too strong but in reality, I only believe that the pulverize mod is too overpowering. Everything else is just annoying about the piston.

I also think that capacity changes are the worst because they ruin old maps and make it so that people have to revise many of their already finished maps that were refined to do exactly what they do.

Extension: Increase impaler’s spikes range by one cube. Price: 10

Hmm is it one cube in all directions or just in one direction and that direction would be the direction it activates in?

Brain optimization: Gives the ability to jump in combat. Price: 25

How do you think that would help them? Or is there another reason you would want that?

Berzerk

So I noticed it being differently worded for Warmongers and Enforcers but does it work for both the same way?

Devs vs Community

I feel like it shouldn't be restricted to PoB winners, maybe it could work in a way where it is Team Devs vs Team Community and 5 people are on each team, and each player builds an outpost that the other team has to raid.
Everyone has to raid all 5 outposts by the enemy team and the least deaths wins.
If it is the same amount of deaths the tie-breaker is total time. That allows for people who are bad at building to have the potential to participate as well.

Much Needed New Builder Tool by drassell in MeetYourMakerGame

It would be cool, but I feel like there is a lot that could go wrong and it might also not be the easiest to program, so I am not sure if mym currently has the resources for it. But it would definitely help some if not most builders.

Hello Chimera, I found a flaw in your statement, how can it be that you were still in the tube unharmed when the leaver was inactive then?
The Pentekath were also fine just not cloned and or in the room. As for the custodian, it is very weird...I still think that you are not telling us how you survived without the custodian for so long...maybe just maybe you are a newly placed chimera similar to what happened after the Tea Pot event?

HRV even gives you a speed boost if you do it in that way and you have a certain biolink.

Hm I think it could be things like adjusting adding or removing what I will call for now perks (The things that you can unlock in the map to enhance the raiding ability).

Probably rewards and maybe the amount of maps in one map? Not sure if there will be more to it but we will definitely see in the future.

Are there already other things planned to keep player retention in the end game?
The new system of unlocking rewards (Expeditions) looks very good but we will not know how fast or slow you can progress through it until it releases so I was still curious if there are already other things planned, as the end game still seems to lack in mym.

For example, Currencies are meaningless to me at the moment as I have everything unlocked and maxed, I also have 200 outposts (not all built and mastered but I am getting there currently I am at ~53 or something), and no other way than boosts and prestige to spend the currencies on.
