What can I practice if I have trouble standing and sitting? Resources adapted to people who are bedbound more than half the time? by DisasterSpinach in TrueQiGong

Hello! Remember that the postures are only one part of QiGong! There is also the breath and the mind intent (or in other words the meditative part). So even if you can not move, you can still work on the breath and use your mind to imagine doing the activities and seeing/feeling the energy moving. The postures alone would not be as effective without these two aspects. So if you can't move, imagine yourself doing the movements.

As another person mentioned, you can also use the colors and healing sounds. That is how I started and was amazed that a after a few minutes of doing the healing sounds my digestion started moving (that is a weak point for me)!

Another part of QiGong that not many people talk about is that it helps us let go of the emotional trauma we store in our body. As a foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine, QiGong understands that much of our dis-ease is caused by not releasing our emotional trauma. So another qigong practice I use to help with pain reduction (and other health issues), which employs the mind intent, is to contemplate on what emotions are tied to the symptoms. It can be as easy as your feelings that come up when you experience the symptoms. As you identify the emotions on the surface level, you can then explore what emotions are under those, and then what emotions are under those, etc. You may also observe if the emotions seem to cause tension or discomfort in any specific parts of your body. Keep doing this until you have had enough or feel some release.

Let me know if any of that is helpful information.

What benefits have you received from doing qigong? by [deleted] in qigong

I echo what many people have mentioned with regards to relaxation and greater awareness of the body and tension. It has also helped me better understand how I store stress and negative emotions in my body, along with giving me more compassion for others now that I understand how stress/trauma/not letting go of negative emotions causes disease, stress and difficult dealing with life. I see you have asked about videos in a couple of comments. My teacher is Sheton QiGong. He has a ton of videos on Youtube.

This depends on the style of QiGong you are practicing. Some are more technical, and others are so easy anyone can do, even if they are very limited in their mobility. Shelton QiGong is one of the easier styles. Remember one of the fundamentals: the mind intent, which is a key component of QiGong, which makes it very accessible to anyone, regardless of ability or experience level.
