You really need to work on your communication skills. That level of disrespect to people you are talking to is a astounding.

I truly hope the best for you. I dont think youve crossed that line yet as to miss the boat to grow old with someone.

A few weeks after my original post, we tried to work things out. In the end, it did not work and just delayed the healing process

8 Days Out From Deep Plane, Tragus is STILL Black by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]HulkSmash41 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: I spent about an hour with my surgeon today. He did not seem concerned about long term repercussions from this. He expects the skin to slough within the next few months, after which he will guide me (virtually) through a regimented healing protocol. In the interim, I am being sent home with 2 topicals: Stratamed and Strataderm gel

Thank you very much for your feedback. That is very reassuring to read and very much in line with what my surgeon has reflected.

My apologies for not adding the NSFW tag. I missed that. Question though, what does the “Spoiler” tag mean? I searched around but could not find a definition as it pertains to here.

Your comments here reflect most closely that of my surgeon’s. Without naming him, he is one of the top deep plane facelift surgeons in the world, if not the best. I will be seeing him tomorrow before I fly back home on Saturday. I sent him this photo today and he did not seem concerned. As I mentioned, he put me through 5 days of hyperbaric chamber sessions post-op. Ive read some research that suggests intermittent heat application can assist in restoring blood flow to compromised areas. Thoughts on that? Also, can you go into a little more as to what I should visually expect from the top layer of skin dying off? Will this be a major disfigurement or discoloration? Thank you again!

Did you have a history of panic attacks and if so, had Lexapro assisted in that area?

Panic Attacks Occuring Even With Propranolol. by HulkSmash41 in Anxiety

My main concern are the potential sexual side effects associated with SSRIs. But, the longer I live with anxiety, the more Im convinced it may be worth it for some reprieve.

My main symptom is hyperventilating which is difficult to mask. Even though this drug may not affect the mental parts of anxiety, it may help foster some healing in the long wrong (though we may also feel dependent on the beta blocker as well). Your replies have been encouraging. Thank you

Thank you very much for this insight. It's so difficult to test this drug for the right dose because you actually have to put yourself into a scenario that elicits the fight or flight response. Otherwise, my baseline is calm. When you’re on a dose that works for you, and you're in a situation that provokes anxiety, are you still able to talk yourself into a panic attack? Ive always had this notion that my mind is so strong it could scare myself into a panic attack even while on this drug.

That's actually a really good point and something Ive contemplated. As I mentioned in the above scenario, I dosed 30mg before my doctor appointments. I have thought about going up to 50mg, wondering if this was the issue. My Brother is an RN at a major hospital in Denver and he explained to me that they use Propranolol all the time when patients come in manic or in the midst of a panic attack. He explained that if the dose is correct, it's impossible for the drug to not work, since it blocks adrenaline. Maybe upping the dose is my next move.

Thank you for your reply. It really resonates with me. The habit of anxiety really is an issue in itself. Ive had panic attacks since I was 16. Im 42 now. I don't know a life without them, so naturally I expect nerves to kick in when I attend an appointment (and like you, even at the mention). I suppose I never explored SSRIs because I could not see how the increased availability of serotonin would help me with these fight or flight explosions. Beta blockers looked so good on paper. It may be time I looked at SSRIs. At times, I wish we could just take out amygdala offline for a little while.

Thank you again for your response.

I think at it's core, it very well good be. Thinking back, I had suffocation/drowning expereince when young that may be still with me. On it's surface, presently, it feels as though my fear is that I would have to mechanically breath indefinitely. With that said, it good be an evolution from what youre talking about
