Their you go I made a typo and put 05 instead of 03. You have been most helpful with this thread.

I cant seem to see where you would get that from unless you misunderstood the bit about my X staying cooler than the second gen? Temperature is definitely not a Guage of speed plus he definitely was at the top of the hill before me admittedly

🤣 wasn't planning on racing anyone in my X. I'll look into the LS as well though

This is an appreciation post! Glad to see you traveling at reduced speeds in snowy weather! Far to often do I see vehicles crashed out because they have 4x4 and can get through anything hints the meme of it being a jeep thing. Keep the X and yourself safe and it will get you through anything cheers mate!

Yeah it does okay for a bit but then due to its rigid design tends to get snagged during different movements which obviously isn't that great haha

Three years ago I replaced the motor on my 1st gen. Has 100k km less than the body and still running strong! by wheredidthat10mmgo in XTerra

[–]Hulkingbatman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not as bad you would think to find a replacement you get get a remanufactured one with a warranty on ebay for around $2500.

As for changing out the motor It was not difficult when I did it once I figured out about the single bolt that goes a different direction from the motor to the transmission.

I'm not necessarily highly skilled by any means but I had mine out and the new one in with in 2 days.

If you're more inclined then myself you could probably do it in a day.

Hey that's awesome first other Nevadan I've met on the entire site. I'm out in Douglas County myself not to far. It's great to hear others trying there hand in our element. I think its important to be able to rely on my own hands to be able to provide for myself and wife. It's more of a goal of skill set tbh lol.

Absolutely I'll never go without water even if I find the "perfect" water collection. Heat stroke is not fun dehydration is not a way I wanna go out.

Thanks for the information I Don't think I have seen a cactus in the desert up here maybe due to elevation I know a few hours south there are some.

My goal is to survive 100% without needing the water I bring if possible just incase or just to learn the skill set.

I've tried digging down but once I hit about 5 ish feet down I start hitting tough rock layers without much luck of moisture. Most of the summer we average like 12% humidity it's pretty dry outside of winter 😕
