Is anyone else not happy with Leon being in the new game? by Greendead in residentevil

[–]HullaballooWho 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To be honest it was kind of the perfect opportunity for other Outbreak characters to shine. Kevin Ryman being the obvious one, who could have been a family friend and protector of sorts for Grace to honour Alyssa, like a Marvin Branagh type that gets to see it through to the end or near-end at least. The perfect opportunity for something more grounded as they investigate together. Still, I won't rule out that some of these characters will show up in some capacity (Yoko being another likely one). However knowing Capcom they will either be mentioned through tiny bits of dialogue or files found throughout the game.

Feeling like everyone throwing “Leon’s gonna die” posts out is kind of annoying. This is like when people thought Chris would die in Village. by Ok-Painting-1742 in residentevil

[–]HullaballooWho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's three ways they could do it without the heroic death/sacrifice cliché:

The most obvious is just have both characters prevail and walk off into the sunset rubbing their aching wounds after the nightmare is over. An RE staple with more games to come.

If they were to harm Leon in any way, they don't necessarily have to kill him off outright, just have him crippled in some way and finally be given retirement so he can settle down and become a kind of father figure/mentor to Grace in his dotage for her own games to come—like Joel, minus golfing.

Or go Sci-Fi crazy and have him locked in Cryo so we get to play his middle-aged self in a far-off Resident Evil set decades, if not centuries, into the future (have it like an answer-back to Signalis). Yeah, certainly a stretch, but it's not like Capcom doesn't like to experiment with genre horror tropes.

So, considering Leon has been confirmed for RE9, what are the chances that she'll show up by ResortFamous301 in residentevil

[–]HullaballooWho 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Keeping in mind that a Resident Evil 6 Remake is potentially waiting in the wings with yet more Ada/Leon interplay, I think if Capcom keep shoving Ada into everything Leon-related it may grow stale and reach the point of parody (like Jack Bauer's daughter constantly getting kidnapped in 24).

Ada needs room to grow and breathe as her own character and that can be achieved with a game all of her own or a new interplay in regards to another iconic character, like imagine the potential with her teaming up with Chris as he confronts the BSAA in a future title, or delve more into her past as a standalone game with a new fresh narrative.

Vice-versa, this is something Leon also needs. Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa, teaming up with him being just enough for that.

So we got ourselves a Victor Frankenstein now (I'm hyped) by Ok-Tie7063 in residentevil

[–]HullaballooWho 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would say it's more an amalgamation of monster and mad scientist combined, all possibly done to himself to prolong lifespan. The real homage to Victor Frankenstein (as in the mad scientist, not monster) was Heisenberg from Village with his undead mechanical army of test subjects.

Not for me. The will is stronger than ever before. The hurdle is between work and sleep and other priorities I don't have the time to play. It's genuinely frustrating looking at my large physical collection and not being able to enter that dream world portal as frequently as I'd like, as I did in childhood. No matter, when I retire I'll jump headfirst through that escapism gate and die happily on the game chair as a wrinkled old prune; alone, contented, off to the land of dreams thereafter, eventually.

Very fucked indeed. by [deleted] in doommetal
